Summary

Opening the Computer

Prepare Computer for Access

Power down, disconnect cables, and place iMac face down on a soft surface for safety.

Remove Back Cover

Locate and loosen captive screws, then lift the back cover off the computer.

Removing the AirPort Extreme Card

Static Electricity Discharge

Ground yourself by touching metal to prevent component damage from static electricity.

Disconnect and Remove Card

Locate the AirPort card, disconnect antenna cable, and pull tab to remove from guide.

Installing the Replacement AirPort Extreme Card

Prepare and Insert Card

Remove replacement card, slide into guide until it clicks, and ensure it is flush.

Connect Antenna Cable

Reconnect the antenna cable to the newly installed AirPort Extreme card.

Closing the Computer

Replace and Secure Back Cover

Align the back cover slots with display housing tabs, press firmly, and tighten screws.

Reconnect Power and Boot

Reconnect the power cord, position the iMac upright, and power it on.
