Overview

The Arctic Air® Pure Chill is an evaporative air cooler designed for personal space cooling. It is marketed as the #1 best-selling personal space cooler.

Function Description:

The Arctic Air® Pure Chill operates by drawing in warm air, passing it over a wet filter, and then releasing cooler, moisturized air. This evaporative cooling process helps to lower the ambient temperature in a small area. The device features multiple fan speeds (High, Medium, Low) and a light function with various color options, including solid colors (Blue, Red, White, Teal, Purple, Yellow, Green) and a color-cycle mode. It is designed to run for extended periods, up to 8 hours on High, 10 hours on Medium, and 12 hours on Low, depending on the selected fan speed.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Model Number: 18009
  • Power Input: AC100~120V
  • Power Output: DC 5V, 1.5-2.0A
  • Power Source: Requires an original power adapter and cord supplied in the package.
  • Cooling Mechanism: Evaporative cooling using a replaceable water filter.

Usage Features:

  • Setup:
    • Place the unit on a flat surface (table or desk).
    • Connect the power adapter to the Power Adapter Port and plug it into a wall outlet. Cord guides are built into the back to keep the cord away from the fan.
    • Pull out the filter drawer using the tab and remove the filter.
    • For optimal cooling, lightly pre-soak the filter under cold, running water. For even more intense cooling, place a wet filter in the freezer until frozen before reinserting it into the drawer.
    • Fill the water tank by gently pouring water into the center opening until the level reaches near the top. The water level can be checked from the side of the tank. For an extra cold blast of air, remove the water tank lid, place ice cubes in the tank, then fill with water and replace the lid.
  • Operation:
    • Power/Fan Speed Button: Press once to power on at High speed. Subsequent presses cycle through Medium, Low, and Power off.
    • Air Direction Tab: An adjustable tab allows users to direct the airflow up or down to their preference.
    • Light On/Off Button: Press to cycle through various light colors (Blue, Red, White, Teal, Purple, Yellow, Green) and a color-cycle mode.
  • Water Usage: Use only clean water; distilled water is recommended if needed. Do not carry the unit when filled with water. Some water may remain in the unit even if the tank is empty.
  • Placement: For best results, place the unit on a higher surface like a table or countertop. Avoid placing it near heaters, electrical equipment, in passageways, or high-traffic areas where it could be tripped over. Do not place items on top of the unit or block the front and back grills. Do not turn the device upside down or submerge it in water or other liquids. Keep away from open flames or fire sources.
  • Storage: If not using for an extended period, empty the water tank, turn the unit on, and set it to the highest fan speed for at least 4 hours to dry out the filter and the inside of the unit. This prevents mold and unpleasant smells and prolongs the life of the unit and filter.

Maintenance Features:

  • Weekly Cleaning: Recommended for both the unit and the filter to maintain optimal working condition.
  • Filter Replacement: The filter should be replaced every 3-6 months.
  • Filter Cleaning:
    • Dishwasher: Place the filter in the top rack of a dishwasher and run a normal cycle. Remove and let air dry.
    • Hand Wash: Gently wash with warm water and soap. Shake out excess water and let air dry.
    • Microwave (Sanitization): Between washes, sanitize the filter by placing it in a microwave on high for 30-second increments, up to 2 minutes. Let it sit until cool.
    • Mold/Musty Smell: If mold appears or a musty smell is detected, stop use and clean the filter immediately. Fully submerge the filter in a pot or bowl filled with equal parts clean water and white vinegar. Allow to soak for 45-60 minutes, then rinse with warm water, wring out, and let air dry.
  • Unit Cleaning:
    • To prepare for cleaning, run the unit until all water has emptied from the tank, or carefully dump out the water over a sink to avoid splashing or spilling.
    • Remove the filter tray. Wipe the filter tray and grill with warm, soapy water, then rinse until clean and let air dry.
    • If the water tank is dirty, use a small, bendable brush (e.g., toothbrush, bottle brush) to clean the inside of the tank until clean. Rinse clean with warm water.
  • Warnings:
    • Do not touch the power supply or cord with wet hands.
    • Unplug the unit when cleaning, removing/replacing the filter, or moving the device.
    • Do not allow foreign objects inside the unit.
    • If a leak or spill occurs on the device surface, unplug it and let it dry for 24 hours before normal use.
    • Do not place in direct sunlight for extended periods.
    • The manufacturer is not responsible for damage due to non-compliance with the product guide.
    • People with limited physical, visual, or mental abilities or lacking proper experience/knowledge should only use the device under supervision.
    • The device can only be completely switched off when disconnected from the power supply.
