Overview

This document is an Owner's Manual & Assembly Guide for an ARROW Storage Products SpaceMaker Patio Shed, Model No. PS53, PS53BG, or MRDPS53GT, with a nominal size of 5' x 3'. The manual provides comprehensive instructions for assembly, usage, and maintenance, emphasizing safety precautions throughout the process.

Function Description:

The SpaceMaker Patio Shed is designed as an outdoor storage solution for various items. It offers a compact footprint suitable for patios or smaller yards, providing protection from the elements. The shed features a double-door design (Option A and Option B configurations are shown) for easy access to stored goods. The assembly process involves constructing a floor frame, erecting wall panels, installing door jambs and a lintel, adding wall angles and channels, and finally, assembling the roof structure and doors. The shed is intended to be anchored to a prepared base to ensure stability and prevent wind damage.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly Requirements: Requires two or more people for assembly ("Use Teamwork"). Gloves must be worn at all times to reduce the risk of injury from sharp edges.
  • Base Construction: The shed requires a flat and level base for proper assembly and stability. Options include building directly on the ground, a wood platform, or a concrete slab (at least 4" or 10.2 cm thick). An ARROW Anchoring Kit is recommended for securing the building.
  • Door Operation: The doors are designed to swing level. The manual includes instructions for assembling the door panels, installing handles, and adjusting the latch mechanism to ensure proper engagement and locking. A set screw is used to tighten the handle shaft once adjusted.
  • Weather Considerations: Emphasizes not attempting assembly on windy days due to large panels acting as "sails."
  • Safety: Repeated warnings about sharp edges and the necessity of wearing gloves. Children and pets should be kept away from the worksite until assembly is complete.
  • Anchoring: Crucial for preventing wind damage. The entire floor frame MUST be securely anchored once the building is erected, using appropriate 1/4" (6mm) x 1 1/2" (38.1mm) hardware.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: DO NOT use power washing to clean the shed.
  • Chemical Storage: Combustibles and corrosives must be stored in airtight containers designed for chemical and/or combustible storage. Corrosive chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides) should be cleaned off interior and exterior surfaces immediately, as rust caused by chemical damage is not covered by the warranty.
  • Rust Prevention:
    • Avoid nicking or scraping the coating surface, both inside and out.
    • Keep the roof, base perimeter, and door free of debris.
    • Touch up scrapes or nicks and any area of visible rust as soon as possible.
  • Wood Platform Note: If using a wood platform, pressure-treated lumber must NOT be used where it contacts the storage building, as it causes accelerated corrosion and voids the warranty.
  • Roof Integrity: Users are warned NEVER to concentrate their weight on the roof.
  • Edge Trim: The edge trim on the gables should remain in place until the right and left roof panels are installed to prevent mishaps on sharp edges.
