M otion detectors can only detect m otion within the designated areas as shown in their respective
installation instructions. They cannot discriminate between intruders and intended occupants. Motion
detectors do not provide volum etric area protection. They have multiple beams of detection and
m otion can only be detected in unobstructed areas covered by these beams. They cannot detect
m otion which occurs behind walls, ceilings, floor, closed doors, glass partitions, glass doors or
windows. Any type of tampering whether intentional or unintentional such as masking, painting, or
spraying of any m aterial on the lenses, m irrors, windows or any other part of the detection system
will impair its proper operation.
Passive infrared motion detectors operate by sensing changes in temperature. However their
effectiveness can be reduced when the ambient tem perature rises near or above body temperature
or if there are intentional or unintentional sources of heat in or near the detection area. Som e of
these heat sources could be heaters, radiators, stoves, barbeques, fireplaces, sunlight, steam vents,
lighting and so on.

RFDM-1 Single Channel Agile Modulator
Installation Instructions
Introduction
The RFDM-1 is a one-channel monaural frequency agile audio/video modulator. The
modulator adds an RF (video) signal from security cameras or other video sources to
your video distribution netw ork using an unused channel. The RFDM-1 covers UHF
channels 14 to 78 and CA TV channels 65 to 135.
Contents of Pack age
Before installation, confirm that the package contains the follow ing parts: one RFDM-1
Modulator, one A C A dapter, one video patch cord and one audio patch cord.
Installation Instructions
We recommend installing the modulator close to the signal source. How ever, you may
choose to install the modulator at the signal distribution end in a enclosure cabinet.
Installation instructions for both options follow below . Observe proper coax w iring
practices to ensure proper operation.
At Signal Source
1. Locate the RFDM-1 w ithin two feet of the signal source and an A C outlet.
2. Connect the RF (video) output from the video source to the RFDM-1 V IDEO IN jack
using the supplied video patch cord. See Figure B.
3. (Optional) Connect the audio output from the source to the RFDM-1 A UDIO IN jack
(3.5mm) using the supplied audio patch cord. See Figure B.
4. Home run an RG6 coax cable from the RFDM-1 to the enclosure cabinet housing the
video distribution modules. Allow sufficient length at both ends of the run to avoid
stress and for proper termination and trim out. Terminate both ends of the coax
cable w ith male F-type connectors. At the source end, connect the coax cable to the
RF OUT connector on the RFDM-1. At the distribution end, connect the coax cable
to an unused port of a cable combiner, e.g. HS-V H400. Please refer to the
installation instructions included w ith the combiner to insure proper operation.
5. Plug the provided 12 V DC, 250mA pow er supply into the power line and connect to
