SB850 Serial ATA Serial ATA 6.0 Gb/s connectors (7-pin SATA 1, SATA 2,
SATA 3, SATA 5, SATA 6)
These connectors are for the Serial ATA 6.0 Gb/s signal cables for Serial ATA hard disk
drives and optical disc drives. If you installed Serial ATA hard disk drives, you can
create a RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, or RAID 10 conguration through the onboard AMD
®
SB850 controller.
• These connectors are set to IDE mode by default. In IDE mode, you can connect Serial
ATA boot/data hard disk drives to these connectors. If you intend to create a Serial ATA
RAID set using these connectors, set the type of the SATA connectors in the BIOS to
[RAID]. See section 2.3.4 SATA Conguration for details.
• You must install Windows
®
XP Service Pack 2 or later version before using Serial
ATA hard disk drives. The Serial ATA RAID feature is available only if you are using
Windows
®
XP SP2 or later version.
• When using hot-plug and NCQ, set the type of the SATA connectors in the BIOS to
[AHCI]. See section 2.3.4 SATA Conguration for details.
4. LPT connector (26-1 pin LPT)
The LPT (Line Printing Terminal) connector supports devices such as a printer. LPT is
standardized as IEEE 1284, which is the parallel port interface on IBM PC-compatible
computers.
