installation. The unit must be installed by a
qualified service technician. Failure to properly
install the unit or attempting to modify it in any
way can be extremely hazardous and may
result in property damage and personal injury
and will void the warranty.
BEFORE INSTALLATION
Ensure that the i n s t a ll a t i on i n s t r u c t i on s have been
properly read and und e r s t ood .
I n s t a ll a t i on m u s t conform to Local wiring codes and
r e g u l a t i on s or, in the absence of local codes, the
S t a nd a r d on R e c r e a t i on a l Vehicles, NFPA 1192. and
N a t i on a l E l e c t r i ca l Code NFPA 70.
DO NOT attempt to modify or add c o m pon e n t s to the
i n s t a ll a t i on procedure.
This e qu i p m e n t m u s t only be serviced by a li c e n s e d
r e f r i g e r a t i on mechanic to maintain warranty
coverage.

GENERAL INFORMATION
I. PURPOSE
This A t w ood AirCommand air c ond i t i on i n g unit is designed
for i n s t a ll a t i on on the roof of a r e c r e a t i on a l vehicle to
provide cooling with AC1361 models and cooling/heating
with AC1511 models.
-The roof m u s t be capable of s uppo r t i n g the w e i g h t of the
unit which is 86lbs (39Kg).
-The a b s o l u t e minimum t h i c k n e ss of the roof m u s t not be
less t h a n 1 inch (25mm).
-The maximum t h i c k n e ss of the roof m u s t not exceed
5 inches (125mm).
-Trimming of the du c t w o r k a nd / o r bo l t s may be n e c e ss a r y
depending on the roof t h i c k n e ss
It is important that the unit is i n s t a ll e d properly and
according to the recommended g u i d e li n e s .
II. ENSURING EFFECTIVE OPERATION
T h e e ff e c t i ve n e ss of the air c ond i t i on e r is d e p e nd e n t on
s eve r a l f ac t o r s e.g. size and h e a t load of the vehicle. When
an A t w ood unit is i n s t a ll e d A t w ood assumes that the
vehicle i s well i n s u l a t e d with 1 inch (25mm) foam minimum
in all walls and roof, that the w i ndo w s are of m od e r a t e s i z e
(preferably double glazed) and the roof ve n t s are airtight
when closed. O t h e r m e t hod s of reducing h e a t load include:
-Closing all doors, h a t c h e s , w i ndo w s and b li nd s
- P o s i t i on the vehicle so if porch is used, it will face the s un
and protect the w i ndo w s from d i r e c t radiation.
-Turning off appliances that m i g h t increase the h e a t load
- E n s u r i n g the vehicle is parked in a shaded po s i t i on .
In periods of e x t r e m e high t e m p e r a t u r e it is recommended
to s t a r t the air c ond i t i on e r earlier in the morning to greatly
improve i t s a b ili t y to cope with the e x p e c t e d high h e a t load.
III. CONDENSATION
In areas of high hu m i d i t y, the humid air within the RV will
cause “ s w e a t i n g ” or c ond e n s a t i on in p a r t s of the unit as the
humid warm air c on t ac t s the colder air discharge s y s t e m . If
t h i s occurs please ensure the following:
-Closing all doors, h a t c h e s , w i ndo w s and blinds to limit the
ingress of warm humid air
- Avoid running the inside fan on LOW or AUTO in s u c h
c ond i t i on s . Running the fan on HI fan speed will r e s u l t in
higher airflow and reduce the t e nd e n c y to have
c ond e n s a t i on form.
