Engine oil level too low
If t he engine oil level is too low, top off oil to
the prope r leve l ¢
page 200.
Engine oil level OK
If the . symbol sta rt s flas hing again even
though the engine oil level checks OK on the
dipst ick,
do not start driving again and do
not let the engine run at idle.

tact your author ized Audi dealer for assis-
tance.
@ Tips
- The engine oil pressure symbol. is
not an indicator for a low engine oil lev-
el. Do not rely on it. Instead, check the
oil level in your engine at regular inter-
vals, preferably each time you refuel,
and always before going on a long trip.
- The yellow oil level warning indication
1/1 requires oil refill or workshop serv-
ice without delay. Do not wait until the
red oil pressure warning symbol.

-L Engine cooling system
A malfunction in the engine cooling system
must be repaired as soon as possibl e.

too high, or the coo lant
level is too low. In ad-
dition to the symbol, th e following message
also appears in the display:
Switch off engine and check coolant level

Pull off the road and stop the vehicle.

Turn off t he engine.

Check coo lant level c> page 204.

Add coolant if necessa ry¢ page 204 .
~
Contin ue driving only after the engine cool-
ant war ning/ indicator light goes out .
~
Contact your autho rized Audi deale r for as-
sistance if necessa ry.
If the engi ne coo lant level is correct, th en t he
radiator fan may be the cause of the mal func -
tion .
If the genera tor war ning/ indicator light
sho uld also illum inate
¢ page 16, then th e
fan belt may be damaged .
A WARNING
- If you r vehicle should brea k dow n for
mec hanical or other reaso ns, par k at a
safe distance from moving traffic, tu rn
off the eng ine and tu rn on the haza rd
warn ing lights ¢ page SO, Emergency
flasher.

- Never ope n the hood if you see or hear
steam or coo lant escaping from the en-
gine com part ment - you risk being scald -
ed . Wait unt il you can no longer see or
hea r stea m or coolant escap ing.
- The engin e compa rtment of any vehicle
is a dange rous area. Befo re you perfor m
any work in t he engi ne compartmen t,
t urn off t he engine and allow it to cool.

Electro-mechanical power assist
If the indicato r light illum inates while you are
driving, the re is a malfunction in the electro-
mecha nical steer ing. If t he indicator light is
showing
t~J, there may be a reduct ion in pow -
er stee ring assis t . If the indicato r light is
showing . , t here may be a tota l loss of pow -
er stee ring assis t . The steer ing mu st be in-
specte d imme diately by a qualifie d workshop

the car is bein g towe d), there is also no power
