Automatic locking*
The automat ic locking feat ure locks all the ve-
hicle doors and t he rear lid when you drive
faster than 9 mph (15 km/h) .
You can un lock the veh icle from the inside by:
- removing the key from the ignition switch
(the vehicle will automat ically unloc k itself)
or
- pressing the unlock part of t he power lock
switch

- pull ing t he inside handle for that door (once
- the front door is unlocked and opened at
the same tim e, twi ce to open the rear door).
If you wish, you can have an author ized Audi
dealer convert your power door lock system to
automatic locking .
Unintentionally locking yourself out
The vehicle does not lock with the central
locking switch ¢
page 39 if the driver's door
is open .
Do not lock your vehicle with the
remote mas-
ter key
unti l all doors and the rear lid are
closed. In this way you avoid locking yourself
out accidentally.
A WARNING
- When you lock your vehicle from outside,
nobody- especially children - should re-
mai n inside the veh icle. Remember,
when you lock t he vehicle from the out-
side t he windows canno t be opened from
the inside.
- Whe n you leave the vehicle, always re-
move t he ignition key and ta ke it with
you. This will preve nt passenge rs (chil-
dre n, for examp le) from accidenta lly be-
ing locked in the vehicle should they acci-
dentally press the power locking switch
on the center conso le.
- Do not leave children inside the veh icle
unsupervised. In an emerg ency it would
be impossible to open th e doors from
th e outsid e without the key.

- In the event of a cras h with airbag de-
ployme nt all locked doors will be auto-
matically unlocked to give access to the
veh icle occupa nts from the outside .
- If the power locking system sho uld fa il,
you can still open the fuel tank flap in an
emergency

- You are well advised not to keep valua-
bles inside an unattended vehicle, visible
or not. Even a properly locked vehicle
cann ot provide the secur ity of a safe!
