assigned to that key. This way every driver will
maintain his/her own personal settings and
does not have to reset them manually.
(D Tips
If a different driver uses your key and
changes the air conditioner settings, the
latest adjustments will erase and replace
the settings you have stored.
mP Rear window defogger
The rear window defogger clears the rear win-
dow of condensation .

.. Press the QiP switc h to switch the rear win-
dow defogger on and off.
The defogger works only with the engine run-
ning. When the defogger is switched on, an
indicator light in the switc h comes on.
The rear window defogger switches
off auto-
matica lly afte r about 20 minutes.
@ For the sake of the environment
Turn the defogger off when the rear win-
dow is clear. When you save electricity, you
save fuel.
Additional heater
Applies to vehicles: with diesel engi ne
.. Switc h the Additional heater to AUTO.
Vehicles wit h diesel engines are equipped
with an addit ional heater to warm the interior
of the vehicle more quickly. The additional
W a rm a nd cold 85
heater switches itse lf on and off automatically
when the outside temperature is below 50 °F
(10 °C) and the engine is running, depending
on the coolant temperature , interior tempera -
ture and the selected temperature.
Electrically heated
front seats
Applies to vehicles: with electrically hea ted front seats
With the ignition on, the seat cushion and
backrest of the front seats can be heated.

Indiv iduals wit h reduced sensitiv ity to pain
or temperature could develop burns when
using the seat heating funct ion. To reduce
the risk of injury, these individuals should
not use seat heating .
