Rear axle
The rear axle drive is mounted to the sub-frame by a four-
point mounting system.

Sport dierential (optional for S8 only)
The radial rubber metal bearings, except the additional
bearing, must be mounted in a specified installation posi-
tion described in the workshop manual.

Sport dierential
The sport dierential0D3 is a further development and a
new generation of the sport dierential0BF (2ndgenera-
tion). In this second generation two control modules are
responsible for activating the sport dierential.
Drivetrain Control Module J775 sends a signal for the
calculated redistribution of torque between the rear wheels
to Dierential Lock Control Module J187 via the FlexRay
bus. The dierential lock control module activates the sport
dierential actuators and initiates the redistribution of
torque.
The sport dierential set-up can be influenced using the
Audi drive select modes. Refer to page 37.
The ATF and the axle oil of the sport dierential are not
subject to routine maintenance.

New: For the first time, the driver can now see a graphic
display of the distribution of the drive torque to the individ-
ual wheels in the MMI. The menu items "Vehicle" > "Show
vehicle" > "quattro" must be selected in the MMI menu. The
arrows shown on the wheels show the distribution of drive
torque.
