& WARNING
• Never leave your vehicle with the engine running while in gear .
If you must leave your vehicle with the engine running, set the
parking brake firmly and engage neutral N.
• With the engin e running and a gear engaged, you have to hold
the vehicle with the foot brake .
• Do not accelerate when you shift gears with the vehicle
stationary and the engine running.
• Before driving down a steep slope, reduce your speed and shift
into a lower gear with R tronic.
• Do not ride the brakes or apply the brake pedal too often or too
long . Constant braking causes the brakes to overheat and
substantially reduces braking performance, increases braking
distance or causes complete failure of the brake system.

If you must stop on an incline, always hold the vehicle in place with
t he f oot brake to prevent it from rolling back. Never hold the vehicle
on an incl ine with a sli pping clutch . The clutch was overloaded if

Kick-down
Whe n you depress the accelerator pedal beyond the resista nce point,
R tro nic downshifts into a lower gear, depend ing on vehicle speed and
engine rpm. The upshift int o the next higher gear ta kes pla ce once
the maximum specified engine speed is reached. Exception: You have
act ivated the sport f unct ion.
& WARNING
Please note that the drive wheel s can spin if kick-down is used on
a smooth slippery road - there is a risk of skidding. •

Launch Control Program

t ime. The ESP indicato r light
