Overview

The OPT7 AURA Door Assist AUX Wiring Installation Guide provides comprehensive instructions for integrating the AURA control box with a vehicle's door or dome light system, enabling an enhanced lighting experience. This guide outlines two primary methods for connecting the AUX wire: a single AUX wire connection (Option A) and a double AUX wire connection (Option B), catering to different functionalities and control box versions (AURA PRO and AURA ORIGINAL).

Function Description

The core function of the AURA Door Assist AUX Wiring is to activate a door assist feature, allowing users to select a desired color choice via the "OPT7 CONNECT" app when the vehicle's door or dome light is engaged. This means that when a door is opened, or the dome light turns on, the connected AURA lighting system will illuminate in a pre-selected color, adding a customizable aesthetic and functional enhancement to the vehicle's interior or exterior lighting.

For the AURA PRO control box, both single and double AUX wire options support the full range of color choices available through the app. However, for the AURA ORIGINAL control box, the AUX wiring feature specifically activates white light only, providing a clean and functional illumination when the door or dome light is triggered. This distinction is important for users to understand based on their specific AURA control box model.

The system is designed to activate when the AUX wiring is connected to the positive and negative wiring of either the dome light or a door light. This direct integration ensures that the AURA lighting system responds in sync with the vehicle's existing lighting triggers. The guide emphasizes checking a provided wiring diagram to prevent incorrect installation, highlighting the importance of proper electrical connections for optimal performance and safety.

A crucial note is provided regarding the trigger wire for the door light: it is recommended if the vehicle's dome light illuminates progressively when the door is opened. This suggests that the door light trigger might offer a more immediate or distinct signal for the AURA system in certain vehicle configurations.

Usage Features

The installation process is broken down into clear, sequential steps, making it accessible for users with varying levels of technical expertise. Each step is accompanied by visual aids (diagrams) to illustrate the connection points and procedures.

Option A (Single AUX Wire): This option is designed for simpler installations where only a positive trigger is needed.

  • For Door Light Wiring:
    1. Locate and Access: Users begin by locating the door/courtesy light on the driver's side door and removing its plastic cover.
    2. Identify Trigger Wire: The next step involves unplugging the connect wire to locate the positive gauge trigger wire.
    3. Connect AUX Wire: The AUX wire from the AURA control box is then connected to this positive wire by twisting the metal wires together.
    4. Reassemble: Finally, the light is placed back into its position.
  • For Dome Light Wiring:
    1. Access Dome Light: The process starts by removing the dome light plastic cover.
    2. Disassemble and Locate Wires: Using a screwdriver, users remove two Phillips-head screws, then the dome light module, to locate the power wires.
    3. Connect AUX Wire: The AUX wire is connected to the positive wire on the dome light.
    4. Reassemble: The light is then placed back into its position.

Option B (Double AUX Wires): This option provides a more robust connection by utilizing both positive and negative AUX wires, which is particularly relevant for the AURA ORIGINAL control box to achieve its white light activation.

  • For Door Light Wiring:
    1. Locate and Access: Similar to Option A, users locate the door/courtesy light on the driver's side door and remove its plastic cover.
    2. Identify Trigger Wire: The connect wire is unplugged to prepare for wiring.
    3. Connect AUX Wires: The positive AUX wire is connected to the positive wire on the door light, and the negative AUX wire is connected to the negative wire on the door light. This dual connection ensures a complete circuit.
    4. Reassemble: The light is placed back into its position.
  • For Dome Light Wiring:
    1. Access Dome Light: The dome light plastic cover is removed.
    2. Disassemble and Locate Wires: Using a screwdriver, two Phillips-head screws are removed, followed by the dome light module, to locate the power wires.
    3. Connect AUX Wires: The positive AUX wire is connected to the positive wire on the dome light, and the negative AUX wire is connected to the negative wire on the dome light.
    4. Reassemble: The light is placed back into its position.

In both options, the final step is "Done," indicating the completion of the physical wiring process. The "OPT7 CONNECT" app is then used to select the desired color, completing the setup for the door assist feature.
