Usage Features:

  • SmartFit Outlets: The surge suppressor features expansive SmartFit outlets designed to accommodate large transformers without obstructing neighboring outlets.
  • LED Status Indicators:
    • Power LED: Illuminates blue when the unit is plugged in and receiving power.
    • Ground LED: Illuminates blue when the unit is plugged into a properly grounded circuit. If this LED does not illuminate, it indicates a grounding issue, and connected equipment is not protected from surge or irregular power events. Operating the unit without a lit Ground LED voids the Austere Limited Lifetime Guarantee and Component Guarantee.
    • Protected LED: Illuminates blue when the surge suppression components are intact and providing full protection. If this LED no longer illuminates, the unit needs replacement, as connected equipment is no longer protected. Operating the unit without a lit Protected LED voids the Austere Limited Lifetime Guarantee and Component Guarantee.
  • Circuit Breaker: An internal circuit breaker trips if the total equipment load exceeds 15 amps, cutting power to the outlets. To reset, reduce the load by unplugging devices and cycle the power button off and then on again.
  • Wall Mountable: The unit is wall mountable and includes a screw for secure attachment to an existing outlet. Installation involves removing the center screw from the outlet cover, opening a removable cover on the front of the Austere Power unit, using the provided silver screw to secure the unit to the outlet, plugging it in, and then re-positioning the removable cover. For Decora outlets or those without a center screw, the screw can be removed from the front cover.
  • Power Switch/Reset Button: A single button controls the power and acts as a reset for the circuit breaker.

Maintenance Features:

  • Damage Indication: The Protected LED serves as a clear indicator for when the surge suppression components have been compromised, signaling that the unit needs to be replaced to maintain protection.
  • Cleaning: The device should only be cleaned with a dry cloth.
  • Product Registration: Users are encouraged to register their product at www.austere.com/guarantee to access the complete lifetime guarantee statement.
