Troubleshooting (gas scooter)
Hard/No Starting
z
Fuel supply system
:
-
Check fuel supply for water.
-
Check petcock for blockage.*
-
Check for air-intake leakage.
-
Check for excessive fuel in cylinder: remove spark plug to discharge.
-
Check air filter for blockage: clean element.
z
Electrical system:
-
Check to be sure kill switch is set to "run" position.
-
Check spark plug: clean or replace.
-
Check ignition coil: replace.*
-
Check magneto: repair or replace.*
z
Air passage:
-
Check spark plug for compression leakage: tighten.
-
Check head and block joint for leakage: tighten.
-
Check for muffler blockage: clean*
Idle Speed
z
Excessive idle speed
-
Check carburetor adjustment.
-
Ensure connection of automatic choke wire.
-
Check slack in throttle cable housing (1/16 inch).
-
Check throttle gap (1/15 inch).
z
No idle speed
-
Check carburetor adjustment.
-
Check fuel supply or intake passage for blockage.
-
Check for crankcase leakage (have fixed by specialist).
* These checks should be undertaken by an authorized service agent.
