Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions and safety guidelines for the BaByliss CURLING WAND PRO 2285CU, a hair styling appliance designed for creating curls.

Function Description:

The BaByliss CURLING WAND PRO 2285CU is a hair styling tool specifically designed to create curls. It features a barrel around which hair is wrapped to achieve the desired curl. The appliance heats up to various temperature settings, allowing users to choose the appropriate heat for their hair type. It is intended for use on dry, combed hair, divided into sections for styling. The curling wand operates by heating the hair wrapped around its barrel, setting the curl, which is then allowed to cool before further styling.

Usage Features:

The curling wand is designed for ease of use with several features to enhance the styling experience. To begin, users must ensure their hair is dry and free of tangles, then divide it into sections. The appliance is turned on by pressing the 'I/0' button. Heat settings can be adjusted using the '+/-' button, allowing for customization based on hair type. The appliance heats up quickly, with an LED light flashing until the selected heat setting is reached; higher temperatures may take slightly longer. A universal heat protective glove is provided and should be worn on the hand used to wrap hair around the barrel, offering initial contact protection from the hot surface.

For styling, a section of hair, starting about 2 inches from the scalp, is placed next to the appliance, with the end of the appliance pointing downwards towards the shoulder. The hair is then wound around the widest part of the barrel, continuing down its length until all the hair in that section is wrapped. The hair should be held on the barrel for 5-8 seconds, depending on the hair type, before being unwound or released. After releasing, the curl should be allowed to cool before further styling. This process is repeated for each section of hair. After use, the appliance is switched off by pressing the 'I/0' button and then unplugged. It must be allowed to cool completely before storage.

The curling wand offers five distinct temperature settings: 210°C, 195°C, 180°C, 165°C, and Power (150°C). For delicate, fine, or colored hair, lower heat settings are recommended, while thicker hair may require higher settings. It is advised to perform a test on initial use to determine the correct temperature for a specific hair type, starting with the lowest setting and gradually increasing it until the desired result is achieved.

An important safety feature is the automatic shut-off. If the appliance is left on continuously for more than 72 minutes, it will automatically switch off. To resume use after this time, the user simply needs to press the 'I/0' button again.

Maintenance Features:

Proper care and maintenance are crucial for keeping the appliance in optimal condition. After use, the lead should not be coiled tightly around the appliance, as this can cause damage. Instead, it should be coiled loosely by the side of the appliance. The appliance should not be used at a stretch from the power point, implying that it should be used close enough to an outlet to avoid tension on the cord. It is essential to always unplug the appliance after use.

The appliance is not designed for user repair. In the event of damage to the lead or the appliance itself, it must be returned to the manufacturer or an authorized service center for replacement or repair. Consumers should not attempt to repair the appliance themselves.

Safety Cautions:

Several safety cautions are highlighted to ensure safe operation. The appliance should only be used as described in the instruction booklet. It is crucial to keep the appliance out of reach of children at all times—during use, after use, and while cooling. Children should not use, clean, or maintain the appliance. Extra care is required if the appliance is used on or near children, and it should not be used on very young children.

The appliance gets hot, and users must avoid direct contact of the hot surface with skin, especially the eyes, ears, face, and neck. During operation, the appliance should not be placed on any heat-sensitive surface. It must not be left unattended when switched on or plugged in.

The appliance is not suitable for use in bathrooms or near water contained in basins, bathtubs, or other vessels. It must never be immersed in water or other liquids. Before each use, the appliance should be inspected for any signs of damage. If damaged or dropped, it should not be used, and the Conair Customer Care Line should be contacted immediately. Similarly, if the lead is damaged, use must be discontinued, and the lead must be replaced by the manufacturer.

Polythene bags used for packaging can be dangerous and should be kept away from babies and children to prevent suffocation.

This appliance is designed for consumer use only, specifically for normal use within the home. It is not intended for professional or non-domestic usage. The guarantee covers defects occurring under normal use within the home from the date of purchase or delivery. The guarantee is void if the appliance is used on an incorrect voltage supply, purchased from an unauthorized stockist, used for professional purposes, repaired by unauthorized persons, or if the failure is a direct result of misuse or not following the instructions. Cosmetic damage due to misuse is also not covered.

The product complies with all appropriate EU and UK Legislation and relevant standards, being an ISO9001:2015 certified company.

For disposal, the product should not be treated as household waste. Instead, it should be handed to an appropriate collection point for the recycling of Electrical and Electronic equipment to prevent negative environmental and health consequences.
