Overview

The Bakcou Mini Badger is an electric scooter designed for personal transportation, emphasizing portability and ease of use. It comes partially assembled, requiring some final setup and safety checks before riding.

Function Description

The Mini Badger serves as a personal electric scooter, providing an alternative mode of transport for short to medium distances. It is powered by an electric motor and a lithium battery, offering a top speed of 15 mph. The scooter is designed with a folding mechanism, making it convenient for storage and transport. Key components include a handle bar with grips, brake handles, an LCD display, a power switch, front and rear lights, front and rear fenders, a motor, a battery, a kickstand, and pneumatic tires.

The scooter's structure includes a folding mechanism for compact storage. It features both front and rear disc brakes for effective stopping power. The LCD display provides essential information to the rider, while the horn and lights enhance safety.

Usage Features

Before riding, a thorough inspection is crucial. Riders must check the handle bar screws for tightness, ensure front and rear brakes are fully engaging, verify that the fender does not interfere with the tire, confirm the battery is charged, inspect tires for damage and proper inflation, ensure front and rear wheels are securely fastened, and check that the motor is operating properly.

Safety is paramount when operating the Mini Badger. Riders are advised to always wear a helmet and protective gear. The scooter is designed for single-person use; riding with more than one person is prohibited. It should not be immersed in water, ridden up or down stairs, or used at night. Riders must always maintain a two-handed grip on the handlebars and wear proper footwear. Using mobile phones while riding is discouraged. Awareness of surroundings is critical to prevent accidents. When stopping, both front and rear brakes should be used. Adherence to local driving laws is mandatory, and the manufacturer explicitly states non-responsibility for injuries resulting from rule violations.

Regular inspection before each use is emphasized. If any issues are detected, such as broken parts, decreased battery life, air leaks from tires, excessive wear, or abnormal noises, the scooter should be immediately discontinued from use, and the authorized dealer contacted.

Maintenance Features

The Mini Badger requires regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Operating System: Certain parts require lubrication. These include the brake rod (front & rear), wire movement parts (specifically the brake material, which should be refined steel), wire loop sections, and movable parts of the accelerator.

Brakes: Brake pads should be checked frequently for wear and tear. If rust, excessive wear, or unsuitability for use is observed, brake replacement is recommended.

Shaft: Proper lubrication of the shaft is necessary to ensure smooth movement of the front wheel, gear crank, and rear wheel.

Wiring: Wiring cables must be kept free of dust and moisture. Cleaning or lubrication should be performed as needed.

Tires: It is crucial not to over-inflate the tires. The recommended PSI (pounds per square inch) can be found on the tire's sidewall, and inflation should remain within these guidelines. Lubricating the tires and rims is not recommended.

Cleaning and Storage: For cleaning the scooter housing, a soft, damp cloth should be used to wipe away stains. Harsh chemicals such as alcohol, gasoline, kerosene, or other corrosive/volatile solvents should never be used, as they can cause severe damage to the scooter body. High-pressure washing is also prohibited. Before cleaning, the scooter must be turned off, and the charging port plug cover securely in place to prevent electric shock or damage. When not in use, the scooter should be stored in a cool, dry place. Exposure to extremely high or low temperatures can reduce battery life.

Battery Maintenance:

  • Only Bakcou-approved batteries should be used.
  • The battery should not be opened or disassembled to prevent electric shock. Contact with metal objects should be avoided to prevent short circuits, which can lead to battery malfunction or injury.
  • Only the supplied AC adapter should be used for charging to prevent malfunction and reduce the risk of overheating.
  • Batteries must be disposed of in accordance with local laws.
  • Charging the battery after each use helps prolong its lifespan.
  • The battery should not be stored in rooms exceeding 122 degrees F (50 degrees C) or below -10 degrees F (-23 degrees C), as this can cause deterioration.
  • If the scooter is not used for 30 days, the battery should be charged and the device stored in a cool, dry place. Every 60 days, the battery needs to be charged; failure to do so may lead to battery failure, which is not covered under warranty.
  • A full discharge of the device should be avoided as it reduces battery life.
  • At normal room temperature, the battery performs optimally, allowing for greater riding distances.
  • A fully charged scooter has a standby time of approximately 120-180 days. The battery features a smart chip that records charging-discharging information. Prolonged periods without charging can severely damage the battery, rendering it unable to charge again. This type of damage is not covered by warranty.
  • Caution: Unauthorized disassembly of the device is strictly prohibited due to the risk of electric shock and serious injury from a short circuit.

Adjusting a Brake Disc:

  • If the brake feels tight, use an M5 hex wrench to loosen the screws of the brake disc tensioner pulley. Slightly shorten the length of the tail brake cable, then re-tighten the tensioner pulley.
  • If the brake feels loose, loosen the tension pulley screw, pull the brake cable slightly to tighten it and increase the length of its tail. Re-tighten the tension pulley screws.

Adjusting Handlebars:

  • Use an M5 hex wrench to loosen and tighten the two screws near the folding mechanism to adjust the handlebars to the desired setting.

The Mini Badger is designed to be a reliable and convenient electric scooter, provided that users adhere to the outlined safety precautions and maintenance guidelines.
