Overview

The Winbest Pursuit-200 Edition Metal Detector is a professional metal detector designed for outdoor use, capable of detecting various types of metal objects. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced users, offering features that enhance the metal detecting experience.

Function Description

The Pursuit-200 Edition Metal Detector is designed to locate metal objects buried underground. It utilizes a search coil to emit electromagnetic waves, which interact with metal objects, causing the detector to register a signal. The device features discrimination capabilities, allowing users to differentiate between various types of metals and ignore unwanted items. It also includes a notch function to eliminate specific items or ranges of items from detection. The detector provides visual feedback on an LCD screen and audible tones to indicate the presence and type of metal detected.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Power Source: Requires two 9V alkaline batteries.
  • Search Coil: The search coil is designed to be waterproof, allowing for detection in shallow water.
  • Display: LCD screen provides visual information about detected metals, target identification, and sensitivity levels.
  • Audio Output: Features a 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening and internal speaker for audible alerts.
  • Discrimination: Allows the user to eliminate unwanted metals from detection.
  • Notch: Enables the elimination of specific items or ranges of items.
  • Sensitivity: Adjustable sensitivity to optimize detection depth and reduce false signals.
  • Volume Control: Adjustable volume for audible tones.
  • Target Identification: Displays numeric values and visual indicators (e.g., icons for iron, 5¢, P-TAB, Zn, 1¢, 25¢) to help identify the type of metal.
  • Tones: Emits different tones for various types of metal, aiding in identification.

Usage Features

  • Assembly: The detector is easy to assemble, requiring the user to connect the search coil to the lower stem, attach the control box, and secure the components with knobs and screws.
  • Battery Installation: Two 9V alkaline batteries are installed in the battery compartment of the control box.
  • Power On/Off: The power switch is located on the control panel.
  • Listening Safely: Users are advised to set the volume to the lowest setting and avoid prolonged exposure to high volume levels to prevent hearing loss. Headphones can be used for private listening.
  • Control Panel: The control panel features buttons for PHONE, VOLUME/POWER, NOTCH, DISC, SENS, and a visual LCD display.
  • DISC / NOTCH Indicator: The LCD screen displays a numeric range (0-80) for discrimination. Pressing DISC then + or - allows the user to adjust the discrimination range. The NOTCH function allows specific segments of the DISC numeric range to be eliminated.
  • SENS (Sensitivity) Control: Pressing SENS then + or - increases or decreases the sensitivity. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals.
  • Target Indications: The LCD screen provides numeric values (e.g., IRON: 00-05, 5¢: 06-17, P-TAB: 18-26, ZN: 27-38, 1¢: 39-62, 25¢: 63-99) and visual icons to help identify the type of metal detected.
  • Testing and Using the Detector: Before outdoor use, it is recommended to test the detector indoors with different metal objects to familiarize oneself with its responses.
  • Outdoor Testing and Use: When searching outdoors, it is important to choose a suitable location, adjust the search coil correctly, and sweep the coil in a side-to-side motion, keeping it parallel to the ground.
  • Search Coil Sweeping Hints: Sweep the search coil slowly and keep it parallel to the ground. Avoid swinging the coil like a pendulum, as this can cause false readings.
  • Pinpointing The Target: Once a target is detected, pinpointing involves moving the search coil in a narrowing side-to-side motion to locate the exact spot of the object.
  • Factors That Affect The Detecting: Various factors can affect detection accuracy, including the angle of the target, depth, level of mineralization in the soil, size of the target, and electromagnetic interference.

Maintenance Features

  • Care and Maintenance: The detector should be handled gently. Avoid dropping it or exposing it to extreme temperatures.
  • Cleaning: Keep the detector away from dust and dirt. Wipe the detector with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents.
  • Water Exposure: The search coil is waterproof, but the control box is not. Avoid submerging the control box in water. If the search coil is used in saltwater, rinse it with fresh water afterward.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the detector in a clean, dry place.
  • Warranty: The product comes with a 1-year limited warranty against defects in materials and/or workmanship. The warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, improper handling, installation, maintenance, normal wear-and-tear, unauthorized repairs, or modifications. To claim warranty service, customers need to contact WINBEST® by BARSKA® for a Return Merchandise Number (RMA#) before returning any items.
