Overview

The provided document is an assembly and operating manual for the Becker A100/25 sectional door drives.

Function Description

The Becker A100/25 drives are quality products designed for the indoor operation of sectional doors. These drives are specifically intended for doors whose inherent weight is balanced by springs or a counterweight. They can also be used for special applications with express approval from the drive manufacturer. The drives are not suitable for use in potentially explosive areas. For outdoor use, special connecting cables and protective conduits for PVC cables are required. The drives are designed for manual operation in emergencies, such as power failures, and for commissioning and maintenance. They feature a compact design and can be installed in any position.

The drives are equipped with a universal power supply, allowing operation on either a 3~230 V or 3~400 V/50 Hz network. They come pre-wired for 3~400 V operation and can be switched to 3~230 V (delta connection) if needed. The drive system incorporates cam-operated limit switching with six end switches, providing 12 lock-in positions for quick adjustment. Safety limit switches (S1F, S2F, S3F, S4F) are integrated to ensure safe operation and prevent the door from moving beyond its limit positions. The connection to the control unit must meet Category 2, PL c.

Emergency manual operation is available in two forms: crank handle (HK) and light chain (LK). The crank handle system involves inserting a crank handle into the motor shaft, which opens a safety switch (S3F) to prevent electrical operation during manual use. The light chain system allows manual opening or closing by pulling the chain, which also activates the S3F safety switch. Both emergency manual operations are intended for short-term use during commissioning, maintenance, or power outages, and only when the motor is turned off.

Usage Features

  • Installation Flexibility: The drive's compact design allows for installation in various positions. For vertical installation, it can be mounted up to approximately 8 meters; beyond this height, horizontal installation is required.
  • Easy Electrical Connection: The drive uses a plug-in 12-core or 18-core control cable with reverse polarity protection. The 10-pole jumper plug must be removed before plugging in the 18-core cable.
  • Adjustable Limit Positions: The 6 cam-operated end switches offer 12 lock-in positions for precise adjustment of the door's upper and lower limit positions. This allows for fine-tuning the door's travel range.
  • Emergency Manual Operation:
    • Crank Handle (HK): Provides a reliable method for manual door operation during power outages or maintenance. Insertion of the crank handle automatically disables electrical operation via safety switch S3F.
    • Light Chain (LK): Offers another manual operation option, particularly useful for horizontal drive installations. Pulling the chain also activates the S3F safety switch, preventing electrical operation.
  • Safety Features: The drive incorporates safety limit switches (S1F, S2F, S3F, S4F) to prevent overtravel and ensure safe operation. The orange functional cam S7 can be used as a pre-limit switch for the safety edge, switching a maximum of 5 cm above the floor, in compliance with EN12453 and EN12445.
  • Direction Check: After installation, the running direction of the door can be easily checked and adjusted via the control unit's OPEN and CLOSE buttons to ensure it corresponds to the commands.

Maintenance Features

  • Regular Expert Checks: The door system, including the drive, requires regular inspection by an expert to ensure safe working order, in accordance with national regulations and usage frequency.
  • Fastening Inspection: All fastening screws, including those for the torque bracket, must be checked periodically for good condition and secure fastening.
  • Safety Limit Switch Functionality: The functionality and switch-off points of safety limit switches (S1F, S2F, S3F) must be checked as per the connection diagram and relevant assembly/operating instructions. This includes checking for continuity and proper activation during emergency manual operation.
  • Gears: The gears are lubricated for life and are maintenance-free, reducing the need for frequent servicing.
  • Toothed Belt Inspection: The toothed belt (if applicable) requires visual inspection for sufficient preliminary tension and any signs of wear along the entire travel distance of the door.
  • Counterweight/Spring Tension Check: For sectional doors with spring compensation or a counterweight, the counterweight/spring tension must be checked to ensure the door is properly balanced in all positions.
  • Cable Integrity: The connecting cable must be routed to avoid contact with the drive, and individual wires must not contact the gear wheels/cams of the limit switching when the housing cover is closed. The protective conductor connection (earth) is designed to be disconnected last if the cable is pulled out unintentionally.
