Overview

This document serves as a user manual for a Beko Dryer, model DF7414SX, providing essential information for safe operation, installation, and maintenance.

Function Description

The Beko Dryer is designed for domestic use to dry laundry. It operates by tumbling clothes in a drum while circulating heated air to remove moisture. The dryer features various programs tailored for different fabric types and desired dryness levels, including specific settings for cottons, synthetics, delicate items, and even specialized programs like "Hygienic Drying" for enhanced hygiene. The appliance can also incorporate a "steam function" for refreshing clothes or removing odors without washing. For models with this feature, only distilled water or condensed water from the machine's tank (filtered to remove fibers) should be used. The dryer is equipped with a condenser unit that collects water removed from the laundry, which can either be manually drained from a water tank or connected to a direct drain hose.

Usage Features

The dryer is operated via a control panel that includes an On/Off/Program Selection button, Start/Stand-by button, Drum light button, End time selection button, Time program selection button, Low temperature selection button, Audible warning and child lock selection button, Wrinkle prevention selection button, and Dryness level selection button.

Program Selection: Users can select a desired drying program by turning the On/Off/Program Selection button. The manual provides a program selection and consumption chart detailing programs like Cottons, Cottons Eco, Cottons Iron dry, Synthetics, Mix, Towel, GentleCare, Daily, Time Program, Jeans, Outdoor/Sports, Down Wear, Shirts, Daily Express, Hygienic Drying, and Hygienic Refresh. Each program is designed for specific laundry types and offers different drying intensities.

Auxiliary Functions:

  • Dryness Level: Allows adjustment of the desired dryness, which may affect program duration.
  • Wrinkle Prevention: This function can be activated to prevent laundry from wrinkling if not removed immediately after the program ends. It tumbles the laundry at 10-minute intervals for up to 2 hours.
  • Audible Warning: The dryer emits an audible signal upon program completion, which can be turned off.
  • Low Temperature: Dries laundry at a lower temperature, extending the program duration but suitable for delicate items.
  • End Time: Enables delaying the program start by up to 24 hours. Laundry can be added or removed during the countdown.
  • Drum Light: Illuminates the drum interior for better visibility when loading or unloading.
  • Child Lock: Prevents interruption of the program flow by deactivating all buttons except the On/Off/Program Selection button. It is activated and deactivated by pressing the Audible Warning button for 3 seconds.

Loading and Starting: Laundry should be prepared by separating tangled items, turning garments with metal accessories inside out, and fastening zippers, hooks, buckles, and buttons. The loading door should be closed firmly without jamming any laundry. After selecting a program, the Start/Stand-by button must be pressed to initiate the drying cycle.

Adding/Removing Laundry: During a program, laundry can be added or removed by pressing Start/Stand-by to pause, opening the door, and then closing it and pressing Start/Stand-by again to resume. However, adding wet laundry after the drying operation starts may mix with dried laundry, leaving items damp and increasing energy consumption.

Cancelling a Program: A running program can be cancelled by pausing it and turning the On/Off/Program Selection button. The inside of the machine can be very hot after cancellation, so a refreshing program is recommended to cool it down.

Energy Saving Tips:

  • Spin laundry at the highest possible speed in the washing machine to reduce drying time and energy consumption.
  • Sort laundry by type and thickness, drying similar items together.
  • Follow program selection instructions.
  • Avoid opening the loading door unnecessarily or for extended periods during drying.
  • Do not add wet laundry while the dryer is in operation.
  • For condenser models, clean the condenser monthly or after every 30 operations.
  • Ensure good ventilation in the room where the dryer operates.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the dryer's performance and longevity.

Filter Cleaning:

  • Fibre Filter: Located inside the loading door, this filter collects lint and fibers. It must be cleaned after each drying cycle. The two-part filter can be removed by pulling upwards, and collected lint should be removed by hand or with a soft cloth. Both parts should be cleaned under running water or with a soft brush and dried before reinstallation.
  • Filter Slot: The slot where the filters are installed can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
  • Air Routing Cover: Both top and bottom filters should be opened to remove lint by hand or with a cleaning brush at the air routing cover. A vacuum cleaner can also be used.

Sensor Cleaning: The dryer has dampness sensors that detect laundry dryness. These metal surfaces should be wiped with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar and then dried, ideally four times a year. Metal tools or solvents should not be used.

Water Tank Draining: The water tank accumulates condensed water and must be drained after each drying cycle. If the direct drain hose is used, manual draining is not necessary. If the water tank fills up during a program, a warning indicator will flash, and the machine will go into stand-by until the tank is emptied.

Condenser Cleaning: A small amount of lint may pass through the lint filter and collect on the metal surface of the condenser. The condenser metal surface needs regular cleaning, especially if the evaporator icon flashes. This should be checked at least once every 6 months. To clean, the toe board is opened, the air routing door is released, and a cleaning brush (provided in the materials bag) is used to remove fluff from the metal surface. The brush should be moved up and down, avoiding right-left movements to prevent damage to the condenser fins. A vacuum cleaner with a brush can also be used. Protective gloves are recommended if cleaning by hand.

General Cleaning: The front door interior surface and its gaskets should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth and the brush on the air routing cover.

Transportation: Before transporting the dryer, all remaining water should be drained. If a direct water drain connection is made, the hose connections should be removed. The dryer should ideally be carried in an upright position.

Safety Assembly: Transportation safety assembly must be removed before the first use.

Illumination Lamp: If the dryer has an illumination lamp, it should be changed by an Authorized Service.
