Why does my Bennett Read IND2000 Pressure Washer keep pulsating?
    • K
      Kimberly AdamsAug 14, 2025
Your Bennett Read Pressure Washer might be pulsating due to several reasons: * There might be air in the inlet hose. To resolve this, run the machine with the trigger open until the pressure stabilizes. * The water supply could be inadequate. Ensure it meets the required specifications, and avoid using long, thin hoses. * The nozzle or water filter could be partially blocked. Try cleaning them. * The hose might be kinked. Straighten it out to ensure proper water flow.

Technical Specifications:

  • Voltage: 220-240V~
  • Frequency: 50Hz
  • Power: 2000W
  • IP Rating: IPX5
  • Rated Pressure: 10MPa
  • Permissible Pressure: 14MPa
  • Rated Flow: 6.67 l/min
  • Max. Flow: 7.2 l/min
  • Max. Inlet Water Pressure: 0.7MPa
  • Weight: 8.9kg

Usage Features:

The IND2000 is equipped with several features to enhance its usability and performance:

  • Carry Handle: For easy transportation of the unit.
  • ON/OFF Switch: To power the machine on and off.
  • Pressure Adjustment Switch: Allows users to adjust the pressure according to the cleaning task.
  • Power Cord Hook & High-Pressure Hose Hook: For neat storage of the power cord and high-pressure hose.
  • Water Inlet with Filter (6A): Ensures that only clean water without impurities enters the pump, protecting it from damage caused by sand, limestone, and other particles. This filter must always be fitted.
  • Spray Gun with Trigger Lock (10A): Features a safety lock to prevent accidental operation. The spray gun will "kick" when the trigger is pulled, so it should be held firmly with both hands.
  • Multi-purpose Spray Lance & Turbo Lance: The multi-purpose spray lance allows adjustment of the water jet from pencil to fan by turning its end clockwise or anticlockwise, and pressure adjustment by turning a lower ring. The Turbo Lance provides extra cleaning pressure for tougher jobs but should not be used on painted or delicate surfaces.
  • Onboard Detergent Bottle (13): For foam spraying applications, allowing the use of detergents specifically designed for pressure washers. The spray lance should be set to "foam" and the pressure adjustment switch to the lowest setting when using detergent.
  • Spray Gun Holder: For convenient storage of the spray gun when not in use.
  • Wheels & Stabilising Stands: Provide stability and mobility for the unit.

Operation:

Before operation, ensure the machine is securely upright on a level surface. The ON/OFF switch should be in the OFF position before plugging into the mains socket. After connecting the garden hose to the water inlet and turning on the water tap, release the trigger lock and pull the spray gun trigger to allow air to escape from the water hose. Once air has escaped, turn the ON/OFF switch to ON and pull the trigger to begin spraying. The spray lance should be aimed away from the surface initially to adjust pressure and spray pattern. The machine stops automatically when the spray gun trigger is released and restarts when reactivated. It is crucial to avoid dry running for more than 2 minutes, as this can damage the high-pressure pump. If pressure does not build up within 2 minutes, switch off the machine and consult the troubleshooting section.

Safety Precautions:

  • For outdoor use only; never use indoors.
  • High-pressure jets can be dangerous if misused; never direct the jet at people, animals, live electrical equipment, or the appliance itself.
  • Wear eye and hearing protection, and safety gloves during use.
  • Keep all bystanders at least 15m away.
  • Wear non-slip footwear.
  • Do not cover the machine during operation.
  • Do not use at temperatures below 0°C.
  • Use only original spare parts, hoses, fittings, and couplings recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Keep the machine on a stable, flat surface.
  • Disconnect from the electrical power supply before maintenance.
  • Never touch the mains plug or socket with wet hands.
  • Check the power cord for damage before every use.
  • Protect current-conducting parts from water.
  • Completely unwind electrical cords on drums to prevent overheating.
  • Extension cord couplings must be watertight and not lie on the ground; a cable reel ensuring sockets are at least 60 mm above ground is recommended.
  • Protect power cords from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
  • Switch off the mains disconnecting switch when leaving the appliance unattended.
  • Never spray flammable liquids, solvents, toxic liquids, or undiluted acids, as the spray mist is highly flammable, explosive, and poisonous.
  • Only use water without impurities; an additional filter is recommended if there is a risk of sand in the inlet water.
  • The unloader valve reduces pressure if it exceeds pre-set values.
  • A thermal sensor protects the motor against overloading, restarting after a few minutes when cooled.
  • The appliance is designed for use with cleaning agents supplied or recommended by the manufacturer.

Maintenance Features:

To ensure a long and problem-free working life, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Water Inlet Filter (6A) Cleaning: Clean at least once a month, or more frequently depending on use. Loosen the filter with a screwdriver, clean it, and check that it is intact before re-mounting. Failure to fit the filter will invalidate the guarantee.
  • Spray Lance Nozzle Cleaning: To prevent clogging, clean the nozzle often using the provided cleaning tool (needle clean-out tool). Switch off the machine, disconnect the spray lance, clean the nozzle, and flush it backwards with water.
  • Air Vents: Keep machine air vents clean and free from blockages.
  • Couplings: Grease regularly to ensure easy connection and prevent O-rings from drying up.
  • Post-Cleaning Storage: After use, wash out the water hose, high-pressure hose, spray lance, and accessories. Clean connectors of dust and sand, rinse the detergent bottle, and clean the spray lances and spray gun.
  • Winter Storage: The pump, hose, and accessories should always be emptied of water before storing. Never store the machine in areas where it may freeze, as frost damage is not covered under guarantee. If frozen, contact the Service Centre.
  • Repairs: Any necessary repairs should only be made by an authorized Tevo Service Centre using original spare parts.

Troubleshooting:

The manual provides solutions for common issues:

  • Machine won't start: Check if plugged in, try another socket, or try without an extension cord.
  • Fluctuating pressure: Check for air in the pump (ensure hoses/connections are airtight), dirty/worn/stuck valves, or worn pump seals.
  • Machine stops: Check for incorrect mains voltage (ensure it matches model tag), thermal sensor activation (leave to cool for 5 minutes), or partially blocked nozzle.
  • Machine pulsating: Check for air in the inlet hose (allow to run with open trigger), inadequate mains water supply (check specifications, avoid long/thin hoses), partially blocked nozzle, blocked water filter, or kinked hose.
  • Machine often starts and stops by itself: Indicates a leaking pump/spray gun; contact a service centre.
  • Machine starts, but no water comes out: Check for frozen pump/hoses/accessory (wait to thaw), no water supply (connect inlet water), blocked water filter, or blocked nozzle.

For any other maintenance or service not included in the manual, contact an authorized Tevo service representative. Customer care can be reached at 0861 77 88 88.
