3.4 Menu options
3.4.1 Changing the mode
You can capture images and voices in the capture mode, and use the playback mode to replay,
delete, or edit images on the LCD monitor.
3.4.1.1 Switching between capture and playback modes
• In the capture mode, press to switch to the playback mode.
• In the playback mode, press / to switch to the capture mode.
3.4.1.2 Selecting the scene mode
1. Set the camera to the capture mode.
2. Press to show the scene mode palette.
3. Use the four-way control to select a desired mode and press to confirm the setting.
4. Press and to turn the scene mode description on and off.
Scene mode
Icon Mode Description
Program The camera makes settings suitable for the shooting conditions.
Movie Captures movie clips.
Smile Catch Automatically takes a shot when a smile is detected.
Shake-Free
(C850 only)
Reduces blur caused by camera vibration.
Landscape Used for the wide scenic views.
Backlight Captures the image of a backlit object by changing metering.
Night Scene Captures the subject while keeping the background night
scenery.
Building Enhances the edges of the subject.
Kids Takes a still image of moving kids.
High ISO
Portrait
Makes people stand out with the background out-of-focus even
in a dark environment. In this mode, a higher ISO value is used.
