TROUBLESHOOTING
Why did my monitor not pick up the input
signal automatically?
Most of BenQ monitors have the “Input Auto Switch” option.
By enabling “Input Auto Switch”, your monitor automatically chooses the best active input
source based on all the input devices currently connected to the monitor. For example, if your
monitor is connected only through HDMI, it will set the input source to HDMI automatically. If
your monitor is connected through both VGA and HDMI, it will set the input source to HDMI
(which has higher priority than VGA).
Please refer to the User Manual of your BenQ monitor for detailed instructions on how to use
“Input Auto Switch”.
There is no sound coming out from my LCD
monitor speaker.
Please check how your BenQ Monitors is connected to the PC. The audio can be transferred
through an HDMI or an audio cable.
My monitor is showing ghosting image (i.e.
when scrolling the text or moving the mouse),
how can I fix this problem?
Please turn OFF the AMA function in the OSD menu
My BenQ monitor doesn't turn on.
Please check if the cable is correctly connected to the power source and try to change the power
cable. If the problem persists, please contact technical support.

Overview

This document provides troubleshooting information for BenQ monitors, addressing common issues users might encounter.

Function Description

BenQ monitors are designed to display visual output from various input sources such as computers, notebooks, and other devices. They offer features like "Input Auto Switch" to automatically detect and switch to an active input source, integrated speakers for audio output, and advanced display technologies to ensure clear and stable images. The monitors are equipped with multiple input options, including HDMI, VGA (D-SUB), and potentially MHL, to accommodate a wide range of devices.

Usage Features

Automatic Input Detection: Many BenQ monitors feature an "Input Auto Switch" option. When enabled, the monitor intelligently scans for active input devices and automatically selects the best available source. For instance, if only an HDMI device is connected, the monitor will switch to HDMI. If both VGA and HDMI are connected, HDMI typically takes priority. This feature aims to simplify the user experience by reducing the need for manual input selection. Users can refer to their specific monitor's User Manual for detailed instructions on how to enable and utilize this function.

Manual Input Selection: For situations where automatic switching is not desired or not functioning as expected, users can manually select the input source. This can usually be done via a "Hot key - Input Select" option or through the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu under "Input Select." This allows users to explicitly choose the input corresponding to their video cable connection type (e.g., HDMI, VGA). Some models also offer an "OSD - HDMI auto switch" setting, which, if turned on, includes HDMI or HDMI/MHL ports in the input auto-select loop. If this function is off, these ports can only be selected manually.

Audio Output: BenQ monitors with integrated speakers can provide audio output. Audio can be transmitted to the monitor through an HDMI cable (which carries both video and audio) or a separate audio cable connected from the PC to the monitor. Users should ensure the correct cable connection for audio to function properly.

Image Quality Enhancement: To address issues like "ghosting images" (e.g., when scrolling text or moving the mouse), BenQ monitors often include an "AMA" (Advanced Motion Accelerator) function. If ghosting occurs, users are advised to turn OFF the AMA function in the OSD menu, as this feature, while designed to improve response time, can sometimes contribute to ghosting artifacts depending on the content and settings.

Refresh Rate Adjustment: If the monitor image is flickering, users can try adjusting the refresh rate on their graphics card to a higher level, such as 70Hz. This can often resolve flickering issues by providing a smoother display update.

Maintenance Features

Troubleshooting Power Issues: If a BenQ monitor fails to turn on, the first step in troubleshooting is to check the power cable connection to both the monitor and the power source. Users are advised to ensure the cable is securely connected and, if possible, try changing the power cable to rule out a faulty cable. If the problem persists after these steps, contacting technical support is recommended.

Troubleshooting No Display Issues (VGA): When a D-SUB (VGA) cable is connected but no image is displayed, users should verify that the correct input source is selected in the monitor's settings and check the physical connection of the VGA cable. Ensuring the cable is firmly plugged in at both ends is crucial. If the issue continues, technical support should be contacted.

Troubleshooting "No Cable Connected" (HDMI): For users encountering a "No Cable Connected" message when trying to connect a notebook via an HDMI cable, several steps can be taken. These include using the "Hot key - Input Select" or navigating to "OSD - Input Select" to manually choose the HDMI input. Additionally, checking the "OSD - HDMI auto switch" setting and turning it "on" if it's currently off can help, as this setting influences whether the HDMI port is included in the automatic input selection process. These steps ensure the monitor is actively looking for a signal on the correct HDMI port.

General Support: For persistent issues that cannot be resolved through the provided troubleshooting steps, BenQ recommends contacting their technical support. This ensures that users receive specialized assistance for more complex problems or potential hardware malfunctions. Users should also consult their monitor's User Manual for specific instructions and detailed information relevant to their model.
