! WARNING
TO PREVENT DETECTOR CONTAMINATION AND SUBSEQUENT
WARRANTY CANCELLATION, THE SMOKE DETECTOR MUST
REMAIN COVERED UNTIL THE AREA IS CLEAN AND DUST FREE.
INSTALLING THE BASE
1) To in sure proper in stal la tion of the de tec tor head to the base, all the
wires should be prop erly ad dressed at in stal la tion:
(A) Po si tion all the wires flat against ter mi nals.
(B) Fas ten the wires away from con nec tor ter mi nals.
2) If you use a jumper wire to con nect the poles of ter mi nals 2 and 5 when
test ing the de tec tor loop con ti nu ity, be sure to re move the jumper wire
prior to the in stal la tion of the de tec tor head.
3) The end-of-line de vice shown in Fig. 1.A and Fig. 1.B should be com pat i -
ble with the con trol unit. The end-of-line su per vi sory re lay used should
be rated for the DC power volt age used.
4) Open area smoke de tec tors are in tended for mount ing on a ceil ing or a
wall in ac cor dance with the fire stan dard in your coun try.
5) The base of the smoke de tec tor can be mounted di rectly onto an elec tri cal junc -
tion box such as an oc tag o nal (75 mm, 90 mm or 100 mm), a round (75 mm), or
a square (100 mm) box with out us ing any type of me chan i cal adapter.
INSTALLING THE HEAD
1) Align the com po nents as shown in Fig. 2.
2) Mate the de tec tor head onto the base and twist clock wise to se cure it.
3) Do not in stall the de tec tor head un til the area is thor oughly cleaned of
con struc tion de bris, dusts, etc. The max i mum num ber of smoke de tec -
tor in stalled in the same cir cuit is 30 units.
ADJUSTING THE RELAY FOR NO/NC
The nor mal con di tion for the re lay is "nor mally open" (NO).
1) To ad just the nor mal con di tion of the re lay to "nor mally closed" (NC), in -
sert a screw driver into the rect an gu lar hole lo cated on the side be tween
the front cover and base and ro tate to re move the front cover.
2) Re fer to Fig. 3. There is a jumper head next to the re lay on the PCB. Re -
move the jumper head and re in sert it in the NC po si tion.
3) Care fully re place the front cover.

Do you have a question about the Bentel Security ZT100P and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Bentel Security ZT100P, ZT100PL, ZT100PR1, and ZT100PR2 are photoelectric smoke detectors designed for fire detection systems. These devices are capable of operating in both 2-wire and 4-wire configurations, offering flexibility for various installation requirements.

Function Description:

These detectors are designed to sense the presence of smoke in an area. When sufficient smoke enters the sensing chamber, the detector will signal an alarm, indicated by a continuous illumination of its LED. The ZT100PR1 and ZT100PR2 models include a relay for alarm contact, providing a Form A contact type. The normal condition for the relay is "normally open" (NO), but it can be adjusted to "normally closed" (NC) by reconfiguring a jumper head on the PCB.

Important Technical Specifications:

Model 2/4 wire Voltage DC Standby Current (Max.) Alarm Current (Max.) Surge Current (Max.) Start-Up Time (Max.) Permissible Current (Max.) Frequency Alarm contact
ZT100P 2 28/12 V 90 µA 50 mA 120 µA 60 s 80 mA 3-5 s
ZT100PL 2 28/12 V 90 µA 50 mA 120 µA 60 s 80 mA 3-5 s
ZT100PR1 4 12 V 320 µA 35 mA 120 µA 60 s 80 mA 3-5 s Form A
ZT100PR2 4 24 V 320 µA 35 mA 120 µA 60 s 80 mA 3-5 s Form A

The relay contact rating for models with relays is 1 A @ 30 VDC and 0.5 A @ 125 VAC. The maximum number of smoke detectors that can be installed in the same circuit is 30 units.

Usage Features:

Installation:

  • Base Installation: The detector base can be mounted directly onto standard electrical junction boxes (octagonal 75mm, 90mm, or 100mm; round 75mm; or square 100mm) without requiring mechanical adapters. Proper wire management is crucial: wires should be positioned flat against terminals and fastened away from connector terminals.
  • Head Installation: To install the detector head, align it with the base and twist clockwise until secure. It is recommended to delay head installation until the area is thoroughly cleaned of construction debris and dust to prevent contamination and warranty cancellation.
  • Wiring:
    • 2-wire systems (ZT100P, ZT100PL): A typical wiring diagram involves an initiating loop connected to an EN54 listed compatible control panel, with an End-Of-Line (EOL) resistor at the last detector base.
    • 4-wire systems (ZT100PR1, ZT100PR2): These systems include a power connection to the detector and an initiating loop. An EOL power supervision relay module is used at the end of the line.
    • Important Note: Do not place links between wiring positions of terminals 2 and 5 to provide power supervision. If a remote indicator is not used, the polarity to the detector may be reversed.
  • EOL Device: The EOL device (resistor for 2-wire, relay module for 4-wire) must be compatible with the control unit and rated for the DC power voltage used.
  • Relay Adjustment: For models with relays, the normal condition can be switched between "normally open" (NO) and "normally closed" (NC). This is done by removing the front cover, locating the jumper head next to the relay on the PCB, and reinserting it in the desired position.

Testing:

  1. Disengage Systems: Before testing, all alarm signal services, releasing devices, and extinguisher systems must be disengaged. Re-engage them immediately after testing.
  2. Power-Up Check: After energizing the detector head for approximately one minute, check for the green LED to flash once every 3-5 seconds. If the LED fails to flash, it indicates a non-functioning detector or faulty wiring, requiring re-checking or replacement.
  3. Smoke Test: Introduce smoke from a cotton wick or test smoke aerosol into the sensing chamber for at least 10 seconds. When sufficient smoke is detected, the LED will illuminate continuously, signaling an alarm. Reset each detector and/or control unit before testing additional detectors in the same zone. Failure to alarm indicates a defective unit requiring service.

Maintenance Features:

  • Annual Cleaning: The recommended minimum maintenance requirement is an annual cleaning of dust from the detector head using a vacuum cleaner. A cleaning program should be agreed upon based on the individual environment.
  • Caution: Users should NOT attempt to disassemble the factory-sealed smoke detector. This assembly is sealed for protection and is not intended for user servicing. Opening the detector head will void the warranty.

Recycling Information:

Bentel Security recommends disposing of used equipment (panels, detectors, sirens, etc.) in an environmentally sound manner. This includes reusing parts or whole products and recycling components. In the European Union, the WEEE directive indicates that this product should not be disposed of with household waste but should be deposited at an appropriate facility for recovery and recycling.
