Dos and donts about carbon
Unlike metals, carbon shows no visible signs of deformation or scratches even though the fi bres may be broken. After a fall or ac-
cident, for your safety, replace all potentially damaged parts or get your bike checked by a specialist.
Damaged carbon parts usually cannot be repaired and must be replaced. Replace them as soon as you see any signs of damage. In
case of cracking noises consult your dealer immediately as the carbon part might be damaged.
Carbon is sensible to high temperature. Avoid direct heat sources, like radiators or the inside of cars in bright sunshine.
All carbon clamping areas should be free from grease and other lubricants. Grease would penetrate the material and reduce friction
permanently and irreparably.
Avoid overtightening of parts assembled on a carbon frame, as this could damage the frame.
Tip: Use protective pads to protect the most exposed places of carbon material from rubbing by cables or stones from the road.
