*Automatic choice of format...
In a few instances, you may find that the
BeoVision Avant automatically chooses a
picture format. This happens if, for example, a
TV programme is broadcast with specific
information concerning which format to
broadcast in or a format has been specified on
a video tape. You will, though, still be able to
choose a format yourself.
Formatting or adapting the picture…
When you first switch on to, for
example, a TV transmission, BeoVision
Avant may automatically adapt the
picture to the screen in the most
optimal way* (see Automatic choice of
format… below).
However, if you see a picture
surrounded by black bars (as illustrated
on the previous page), you can adapt
the picture so that it fills out the screen
as much as possible.
You can, though, also choose between
the 6 preset formats. Once you are
satisfied with a format, press EXIT to
keep the format and leave the picture
format function. Make sure, though,
that information, such as subtitles, still
remain visible in the format you
choose, if you need them.
PICTURE FORMATS:
FORMAT 1... for the original BeoVision Avant
picture format.
FORMAT 2... for filling out the entire screen with
a wide-screen picture.
FORMAT 3... placing a wide-screen picture at the
bottom of the screen with a black bar still
appearing above the picture – for example for
program information, which most often
appears there.
FORMAT 4... placing a wide-screen picture at the
top of the screen with a black bar still
appearing below the picture – for example for
subtitles transmitted there.
FORMAT 5... to call up the exact TV picture
format transmitted by the TV broadcaster.
FORMAT 6... only to be used in situations with
the wide-screen format where the special
format information is lacking on the tape (see
Automatic choice of format... below)
Note: You will be using Formats 1-4 daily.
Formats 5 and 6 are special formats which only
can be obtained via the Beo4 number buttons 5
and 6.
While the picture you want to adapt
is shown on the screen...
Press until FORMAT is displayed
Press to adapt the picture format
Alternatively...
Press until FORMAT is displayed
Press to step through the first four
picture formats until the picture fills
out as much of the screen as possible
Press to select format 5
Press to select format 6
You can also select the first four
formats by pressing the appropriate
number button (1-4)
When you have the right picture on
the screen...
