Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the safe and effective use of the Beurer HD 150 XXL heated overblanket, available in both Cosy Taupe and Nordic Taupe variants. It emphasizes safety, proper operation, and maintenance to ensure user well-being and product longevity.

The heated overblanket is designed to provide warmth to the human body, offering a comfortable and cozy experience. It is intended for domestic/private use only and not for commercial or hospital settings. The device features an electronic sensor technology, known as the SAFETY SYSTEM, which provides protection against overheating across its entire surface. In the event of a fault, this system automatically switches off the blanket permanently, indicating that it can no longer be operated and must be sent for servicing. This safety feature is crucial to prevent personal injury, material damage, electric shock, skin burns, or fire.

The overblanket is operated via a control unit that includes a mains plug, a sliding switch for turning the device ON (I) or OFF (0), buttons for setting the temperature, and an illuminated display for temperature settings. To begin use, the control must first be connected to the heated overblanket by inserting the plug-in coupling, and then the mains plug should be plugged into a working socket. The device is switched on by setting the sliding switch to "I," which will illuminate the temperature settings display. Temperature can be adjusted using the designated buttons, with Level 0 being OFF, Level 1 providing minimum heat, Levels 2-5 offering individual heat settings, and Level 6 providing maximum heat. For quick warming, it is recommended to initially set the highest temperature. However, if the overblanket is used for several hours, it is advised to set the control to the lowest temperature to prevent body overheating, potential skin burns, or heat stroke.

A key usage feature is the automatic switch-off function, which turns off the heated overblanket after 3 hours. When this occurs, the temperature settings display will flash. To reactivate the blanket, the ON/OFF sliding switch on the control must be set to the OFF (0) position for 5 seconds before it can be switched on again. To completely switch off the device, the sliding switch should be set to "0," which will turn off the temperature settings display. When not in use, it is important to set the slide switch to "0," pull the mains plug from the socket, and then disconnect the control from the overblanket by unplugging the plug-in coupling.

Several important safety instructions must be observed during use. The heated overblanket is not suitable for individuals with reduced heat sensitivity, very vulnerable people unable to respond to overheating (e.g., diabetics, those with skin changes, or individuals under the influence of pain-relieving medication or alcohol), or very young children (0-3 years old). Children older than 3 and younger than 8 years can use the blanket under supervision, provided the control is set to the minimum temperature. Children over 8 years old and individuals with reduced physical, sensory, or mental skills or lack of experience can use it if supervised and instructed on safe use. Children must not play with the overblanket.

Users must avoid inserting needles into the blanket, using it when folded or bunched up, or when wet. The overblanket should only be used with the specified control and connected to the mains voltage indicated on its label. Electrical and magnetic fields emitted by the blanket are within safe limits but individuals with pacemakers should consult their doctor and pacemaker manufacturer before use. Cables should not be pulled, twisted, or sharply bent, and excess cable lengths must be safely routed to prevent entanglement or tripping hazards. The overblanket should be frequently checked for signs of wear, tear, or damage. If any such signs are evident, or if it stops heating, it must be checked by the manufacturer. Users should never attempt to open or repair the overblanket or its accessories themselves, as this will invalidate the guarantee. If the mains connection cable is damaged, the blanket must be disposed of. The control and cables should not be exposed to direct sunlight. When the blanket is switched on, no sharp objects or heat sources (like hot water bottles or heat pads) should be placed on it. The electronic components in the control unit warm up during use, so the control must never be covered or placed on the heated overblanket while it is in operation.

Maintenance features are crucial for hygiene and extending the product's life. Before cleaning, the mains plug must always be removed from the socket, and the control disconnected from the overblanket to avoid electric shock. The control unit itself should never come into contact with water or other liquids and should be cleaned with a dry, lint-free cloth, without chemical or abrasive cleaning agents. Small marks on the overblanket can be removed with a damp cloth or sponge and a little liquid detergent for delicate laundry.

The heated overblanket is machine-washable. It should be washed on a particularly gentle cycle (wool cycle) at a maximum temperature of 30 °C, using a delicate laundry detergent according to the manufacturer's instructions. However, frequent washing negatively affects the product, so it should be washed a maximum of 5 times during its lifespan. Immediately after washing, the overblanket should be reshaped to its original dimensions while still wet and spread flat over a clothes horse to dry. Pegs or similar items should not be used to attach it to the clothes horse, as this may cause damage. The control should not be reconnected until both the plug-in connector and the electric overblanket are completely dry. Crucially, the heated overblanket must never be switched on to dry it, as this poses a risk of electric shock.

For storage, if the overblanket will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to store it in its original packaging. Before folding, the blanket must be allowed to cool down to prevent damage. It should not be creased by placing items on top of it during storage.

The document also provides information on disposal, advising users to dispose of the device at a suitable local collection or recycling point in accordance with the EC Directive – WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment). Contact information for customer services and guarantee details are also provided.
