Do you have a question about the Bevel Tools Mate EBA-12 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The Bevel Mate® EBA-12 is an electric handheld machine designed for milling metal and plastic materials without the use of water. It is intended for commercial use in industrial applications, for manual weld preparations, and for creating visible edges in plant, equipment, and machine construction.

Function Description:

The Bevel Mate® EBA-12 is used for creating bevels on workpieces. It operates by means of a rotating bevel head that mills the material. The machine features electronic speed control, soft start, and temperature-dependent overload protection.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power Voltage: 120/230V; 50/60 Hz; 120/230V
  • Power Input: 1530 W
  • Power Output: 1000 W
  • No-load Speed: 10500 min⁻¹/rpm
  • Max. Wheel Diameter: 45 mm
  • Grinding Spindle Thread: M8
  • Sound Pressure Level (EN 60745): 89 dB (A) K = 3 dB
  • Noise Emission Level: 100 dB (A) K = 3 dB
  • Vibration (EN 60745): <2.5 m/s² K = 1.5m/s²
  • Weight (w/o cord set): 4.3 kg
  • Protection Class: / II
  • Operating Temperature Range: 0 to +50°C
  • Relative Air Humidity (non-condensed): 95% at +10°C

Usage Features:

  • Speed Preselection: The machine allows for preselection of speed using an adjusting wheel, with increments from 1 (4,200 rpm) to 6 (10,000 rpm). It is crucial not to increase the speed above the maximum admissible speed of the grinding tool during operation.
  • Safety Precautions: Always wear protective clothing, safety shoes, safety glasses, and ear protection. Maintain a firm footing and use both hands to control the machine. Never touch the bevel head when the machine is running or use it above head height.
  • Milling Operation: The machine should only be used for conventional up-cut milling. To turn it on, press and hold the ON/OFF handle. Bring the machine slowly into contact with the workpiece only after the selected tool speed has been reached. When cutting a bevel, move the machine from left to right against the rotation direction of the bevel head. When machining bore holes, work in a clockwise direction.
  • Turning Off: Remove the beveling machine from the workpiece and turn it off; the motor will stop.
  • Flange Head Adjustment: The flange head can be rotated to achieve the desired working depth. The clamping ring allows for reading the desired chamfer height on the scale.
  • Bevel Head Installation/Removal: Bevel heads must be checked prior to use, as worn or damaged heads can cause machine failure. Sharp bevel heads increase cutting speed and machine life. They must be changed regularly, mounted centrally, and positioned against the limit stop. The drive shaft can be locked with an orange locking button for secure bevel head changes. Only clean bevel heads should be mounted, and they must run smoothly without wobbling.
  • Overload Protection: The machine is equipped with electronic control and integrated overload protection. If overloaded, the speed will drop significantly. The user should immediately relieve the machine and let it run without load for a short period. The maximum bevel depth per pass on steel should not exceed 4 mm, with a maximum operating time of 50%.
  • Soft Start: The electronically controlled soft start ensures a smooth, jolt-free start, requiring only a 16A fuse due to low starting current.
  • Temperature-Dependent Overload Protection: If a critical temperature is reached, the safety electronics switch to cooling mode, and the machine continues to run at approximately 3,200 rpm with deactivated electronic speed control. After 10-20 seconds of cooling, the machine is ready for use again (requires turning off and on to reactivate electronic speed control).
  • Undervoltage/Restart Protection: In case of temporary power failure (e.g., unplugging, unstable power grid), the machine stops. After power is restored, the machine must be turned off and on again to become operational.

Maintenance Features:

  • Preventive Maintenance: Keep the machine and ventilation slots clean for safe and efficient operation.
  • Lubrication: Keep the thread and grooves on the bearing housing and the internal thread of the flange head clean to prevent blockages and premature failure of ball screws. Grease the ball guides of the angular gear with commercially available multi-purpose grease.
  • Carbon Brush Check: After approximately 200 operating hours, the carbon brushes should be checked and replaced if necessary. The motor housing should be cleaned, and the gearbox grease replaced. The machine will automatically stop if the carbon brushes are worn out.
  • Safety Inspection: To maintain protective insulation, the machine must undergo a safety inspection, which must be performed exclusively by a qualified electrician.
  • Carbon Brush Replacement: The machine is equipped with two carbon brushes (one in each handle half). To replace them, loosen four screws, remove the handle half, lift the spring with a screwdriver, and remove the carbon. Clean the carbon brush holder, insert new carbon brushes (observing their arrangement), reattach the handle half with four screws, and repeat on the opposite side, ensuring both handle halves are not opened simultaneously.
  • Repair: If the device malfunctions despite careful manufacturing and testing, repairs should be carried out by an authorized service center. If the connection cable needs replacement, it must be done by the manufacturer or its representative to avoid safety hazards.
  • Storage: Store the machine within a temperature range of -15°C to +50°C and a maximum relative humidity of 90% at +30°C or 65% at +50°C.
  • Disposal: The machine consists of recyclable materials. Before disposal, render the machine unusable. Do not dispose of it with household waste; it must be recycled in an environmentally friendly manner according to national regulations.
