The TesiraFORTÉ X is a next-generation DSP processing device designed for quick and easy integration into medium to large conference spaces. It combines powerful elements from previous Tesira devices into a single product.
The TesiraFORTÉ X 400/800/1600 models are conference room DSPs equipped with multiple network and analog audio connection points. They offer 4, 8, or 16 channels of Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC), allowing users to select a model based on the number of microphones required for a room.
The device is primarily designed to be used with Biamp's beam-forming microphones, PoE amplifiers, and speakers. When integrated with these elements, along with a UC-room system, display, and camera, it provides a complete technology solution for UC-enabled conference rooms. Its typical function is to process local Biamp microphone input and speaker output signals to support audio-only and audio/video conference calls from dedicated conference rooms. However, the TesiraFORTÉ X can also be custom programmed for various other applications.
The TesiraFORTÉ X offers two discrete modes of operation for installers. The default mode enables single-button press auto-configuration, assisted by Biamp Launch. The second option allows users to manually configure and fully customize the device's signal paths, similar to a traditional Tesira DSP device.
TesiraFORTÉ X features Biamp Launch functionality, enabling one-touch room hardware discovery, configuration, and tuning. After the Launch process, a report card detailing the room's acoustic performance before and after optimization, along with the Biamp hardware manifest, is accessible via a web browser and can be printed as a PDF.
When auto-configured, TesiraFORTÉ X provides dedicated AEC processing for up to 8 Parlé microphones (depending on the hardware model), supports up to 8 channels of amplification using Biamp Parlé amplifiers, offers 1x1 channel USB connectivity with HID mute sync, and includes VoIP support for the Biamp HD-1 dialer. It has five 1G network ports, with four offering PoE+, and supports audio over AVB between TesiraFORTÉ X and select Biamp Tesira peripheral hardware, including Parlé mics, amplifiers, and the EX-UBT USB and Bluetooth-capable expander. The EX-UBT adds an additional 1x1 USB audio connection and a 2x1 Bluetooth connection. If more AVB ports are needed, up to three TesiraCONNECT TC-5 devices can be linked to P2-5 to expand the port count.
Manual configuration allows users to treat the TesiraFORTÉ X as a standard Tesira server-class device, enabling them to define the signal paths required for their specific application. In this mode, the device's analog I/O, GPIO, and Dante I/O become available for use, and auto-tuning functions are not available. When manually configured, TesiraFORTÉ X shares the same Tesira programming platform as previous Tesira hardware, allowing it to be easily integrated into systems with other Tesira devices. An I/O block family for TesiraFORTÉ X is found under the Forte menu in Tesira software.
In manual configuration, TesiraFORTÉ X provides dedicated AEC processing for up to 16 input channels (depending on the hardware model), up to 2x2 channels of USB connectivity (with HID mute sync on 1x1 speakerphone), VoIP, five 1G network ports (four with PoE+), support for 128x128 audio channels on 64x64 AVB streams between Biamp Tesira devices, 32x32 audio channels on 32x32 Dante flows, two analog mic-line inputs with phantom power, two analog mic-line outputs, and four GPIO ports. Some hardware functions are exclusively available when TesiraFORTÉ X is manually configured.
TesiraFORTÉ X is a 5-port media network appliance with all five Ethernet ports supporting 1G connections. Ports 2-5 support PoE+. Port 1 handles control (web UI) and VoIP connections, while ports 2-5 support AVB media for connected Biamp peripheral devices, as well as Dante/AES67. Third-party control systems can connect to either the Control or Media network.
The TesiraFORTÉ X features a type B USB port configurable as a mono 1x1 speakerphone or stereo 2x2 channel audio input/output. USB audio uses a 48kHz sample rate with 16-bit or 24-bit resolution, with the bit rate auto-negotiated with the host computer. When manually configured, the USB port supports HID mute sync for UC platforms and AEC offloading for compatible UC platforms. When auto-configured with Biamp Launch, it presents a mono 1x1, 48kHz 16-bit or 24-bit speakerphone.
TesiraFORTÉ X includes a next-generation VoIP interface with enhanced security features and support for the Opus audio codec. It supports one line with two call instances and is compatible with all current Tesira VoIP vendors, except Skype for Business. The HD-1 dialer is compatible and automatically provisioned in Launch-configured systems if its device ID is at the default. The VoIP X interface is entirely software-based and configured via an internally-served web page.
AEC channels are not tied to analog I/O and can be assigned to any desired input (analog/AVB/Dante/AES67). The device uses one channel of AEC processing per Biamp Parlé microphone or other input channel type. TesiraFORTÉ X employs dedicated AEC processing hardware per channel for optimal AEC performance. The number of supported AEC channels is indicated by the model name (4, 8, or 16).
TesiraFORTÉ X has two channels of mic-line input with phantom power and two channels of mic-line output. The gain structure matches other Tesira analog I/O ports. It uses female 3-pole 3.81mm-pitch block connectors for inputs and outputs.
TesiraFORTÉ X provides four channels of GPIO for user configuration. Each channel can be configured as a logic input, logic output, LED driver, or control voltage input. Logic inputs are compatible with 5V TTL or contact closure, while logic outputs can be open collector with internal pull-up or direct LED drive. Open collector outputs are 5V TTL compatible, supporting a maximum voltage of 40V and current of 300mA. Direct LED drive outputs can supply 5V at 10mA. Control voltage inputs allow connecting a potentiometer for simple user-assignable level control.
Device IP discovery is performed via a network connection to port 1 (P1) using the Biamp Discovery app or Biamp Tesira software (version 4.0 and higher).
The web UI requires authentication. The default username is "admin," and the default password is the device's 8-digit serial number. It is recommended to reset the password to more secure, unique credentials. Password changes persist through both device resets via Device Maintenance > Clear Configuration and pinhole resets.
Unconfigured or auto-configured TesiraFORTÉ X and Devio SCX devices support firmware updates via their web UI. The TesiraFORTÉ X uses specific firmware files for releases 4.1.2 and later. Firmware can also be updated via Tesira software using the same Tesira Firmware file as other Tesira hardware. Firmware must be release 4.0 or later to support TesiraFORTÉ X and Devio SCX.
Line registration status can be monitored in real-time on the VoIP > System webpage's Diagnostics tab. Feedback on registration progress and call status is visible on the HD-1 display and the Audio webpage in a Launch-configured device. VoIP X includes an ASCII VoIP log that captures all traffic, including SIP and RTP. Logs can be downloaded at any time. The current VoIP X configuration can be downloaded via the DOWNLOAD button on the VoIP > Line Setup webpage's SIP Config tab.
