  If your Bissell Vacuum Cleaner isn't picking up dirt, several factors could be the cause. First, there might be a clog in the vacuum; remove the main hose and use a broomstick to clear it. Also, the filters may be dirty; remove and rinse the pre-motor filters, allowing them to dry completely before reinserting, and remove and dust off the post-motor filter. Incorrect suction control settings could also be the reason; adjust using the suction control feature. Finally, remove the lower hose and run a broomstick through to clear any clogs. You can also remove the bottom brush cover and clear debris from the brush, belt, and foot area.

Remove the bottom brush cover and clear any obstructions from the brush, belt, and foot area. To reset the brush motor, unplug the machine before turning it ON.
