Remove the wet mop pad and replace it with a dry one, and intermittently press the steam trigger for less steam. It's also possible the steam level is too high, so try lowering it. Inspect the unit and water tank for any cracks, and ensure the rubber gasket on the tank is properly attached and seated.

  If your Bissell Steam Cleaner has reduced steam or no steam, first refill the water tank. Ensure that you have selected a steam level by pushing the steam level button. Check that the wand is fully inserted into the handheld pod until you hear a click, and the extension wand is properly inserted into the foot until you hear a click. Also, make sure the PAUSE button is not pressed. Once the STEAM READY light is solid, select your desired steam level (HI or LO) and push the trigger under the handle of the Handheld Pod to release steam.

  If your Bissell Steam Cleaner is making a knocking noise, it might be because it's the first time you're using it or the water tank is empty. Fill the water tank, and the knocking should diminish after a few seconds. Another cause could be that the metal tube cannot reach the water. Shake the pod to allow the tube to reach the water level.
