Assembly
Warning! Avoid accidentally switching the tool on during
assembly.
Fittingtheguard(g.A)
u Place the guard (10) onto the tool as shown.
u Firmly press the guard until it snaps into place.
u Secure the guard with the screw (14).
Warning! Never use the tool unless the guard is properly
tted.
Releasing the cutting line
In transit, the cutting line is taped to the spool housing.
u Remove the tape holding the cutting line (11) to the spool
housing (12).
Use
Warning! Let the tool work at its own pace. Do not overload.
Chargingthebattery(g.B)
The battery needs to be charged before rst use and whenever
it fails to produce sufcient power on jobs that were easily
done before. When charging the battery for the rst time,
or after prolonged storage, it will only accept an 80% charge.
After several charge and discharge cycles, the battery will
attain full capacity. The battery may become warm while
charging; this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
u Insert the charger plug (15) into the charger connector
(16) at the rear of the tool.
u Plug the charger into a mains outlet.
u Switch on at the mains.
The battery can be left connected to the charger indenitely.
u When you want to use the tool, take the charger connector
from the tool and unplug the charger.
To maximise the lifetime of the battery, it is recommended to
keep the battery connected to the charger whenever the tool
is not in use. When the battery is full, the power consumption
of the charger is negligible.
Setting the tool to trimming or edging mode
(g.C-E)
The tool can be used in trimming mode as shown in g. C or
in edging mode to trim overhanging grass along lawn edges
and ower beds as shown in g. D.
Trimmingmode(g.C&E)
For trimming, the trimmer head should be in the position
shown in g. C. If it is not:
u While holding the secondary handle (4) with one hand,
take the collar (7) in the other hand.
u Push the collar in the direction of the trimmer head and
rotate it counterclockwise until the trimmer head engages
in the trimming position.
u Release the collar.
u Set the edge guide (9) to the retracted position.
Edgingmode(g.D&E)
For edging, the trimmer head should be in the position shown
in g. D. If it is not:
u While holding the secondary handle (4) with one hand,
take the collar (7) in the other hand.
u Push the collar in the direction of the trimmer head and
rotate it clockwise until the trimmer head engages in the
trimming position.
u Release the collar.
u Set the edge guide (9) to the extended position.
Adjustingtheheightofthetool(g.F)
The telescopic tube (6) allows you to set the tool to
a comfortable height.
u Loosen the collar (5).
u To increase the height, slide the tube out.
u To reduce the height, slide the tube in.
u Tighten the collar.
Switching on and off
For your safety, this tool is equipped with a double switching
system. This system prevents starting the tool inadvertently.
Switching on
u Push the lock-off button (2) backward using your thumb
and at the same time squeeze the on/off switch (1).
u Release the lock-off button.
Switching off
u Release the on/off switch (1).
Warning! Never attempt to lock the trigger lever in the on
position.
