• Start by trimming the top of the hedge.
• Hold the tool at the desired angle and move it steadily
along the line of cut. The double-sided blade allows you
to cut in either direction.
• In order to obtain a very straight cut, stretch a piece
of string along the length of the hedge at the desired
height. Use the string as a guide line, cutting just
aboveit.
• In order to obtain flat sides, cut upwards with the growth
(Fig. J). Younger stems move outwards when the blade
cuts downwards, causing shallow patches in the hedge.
• Take care to avoid any foreign objects. Especially avoid
hard objects such as metal wire and railings, as these
could damage the blades.
• Regularly oil the blades.

MAINTENANCE


Lubrication

WARNING: NEVER spray or in any other way apply
lubricants or cleaning solvents inside the tool. This can
seriously affect the life and performance of the tool

BLACK+DECKER tools are properly lubricated at the factory
and are ready for use. However, it is recommended that,
once a year, you take or send the tool to a certified service
center for a thorough cleaning andinspection.
Cleaning

WARNING: Blow dirt and dust out of all air vents with
clean, dry air at least once a week. To minimize the risk
of eye injury, always wear ANSI Z87.1 approved eye
protection when performingthis.

WARNING: Never use solvents or other harsh
chemicals for cleaning the non-metallic parts of
the tool. These chemicals may weaken the plastic
materials used in these parts. Use a cloth dampened
only with water and mild soap. Never let any liquid
get inside the tool; never immerse any part of the tool
into aliquid.
