Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the BLANCO BIDW 651 Dishwasher, providing details on its use, care, and technical specifications.

Function Description

The BLANCO BIDW 651 is a dishwasher designed for washing dishes, cutlery, pots, pans, and glasses. It features multiple wash programs tailored for different levels of soil and types of load, including "Rinse and Hold," "Intensive 70°," "Normal 65°," "BIO 50°," and "Quick Wash 55°." The appliance automatically dispenses rinse aid during the last rinse cycle to ensure thorough rinsing and spot-free drying. It is equipped with a safety device to protect against flooding and a system of filters to ensure proper operation and prevent clogging. The dishwasher is designed to be operated by adults, with child safety precautions in place regarding controls, packaging, and detergents.

Important Technical Specifications

The dishwasher has dimensions of 59.6 cm width, 81.8-87.8 cm height, 55 cm max depth, and 111.4 cm max depth with the door open. It operates on a voltage of 220/240 V - 50 Hz. The motor rating during wash is 200 W, the power of the heating element is 2100 W, and the overall power is 2300 W. The water supply pressure should be between 50 kPa (0.5 bar) minimum and 800 kPa (8 bar) maximum. It has a capacity of 12 place settings. The appliance complies with E.E.C. Directives 73/23 (Low Voltage Directive) and 89/336 (Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive). Water usage varies by program, ranging from 10 liters for "Rinse and Hold" to 24 liters for "Intensive 70°." Program lengths range from 8 minutes for "Rinse and Hold" to 98 minutes for "Intensive 70°."

Usage Features

The dishwasher features an integrated control panel located on the top of the door, which includes an On/Off push button, Mains on indicator light, program selector buttons, and an End of cycle indicator light. Audible signals are incorporated to indicate accepted instructions, program start, and program end, which can be deactivated if desired.

Loading the appliance involves arranging dishes in the lower and upper baskets. The lower basket is suitable for saucepans, lids, plates, and salad bowls, with two rear rows of prongs that can be lowered for larger items. The upper basket is designed for plates up to 25 cm, salad bowls, cups, and glasses, and its height can be adjusted to accommodate larger items in the lower basket. Long-bladed knives and sharp items should be placed horizontally in the upper basket, while other cutlery should be placed in the removable cutlery basket with handles facing downwards or upwards depending on obstruction.

Detergent can be used in powder or tablet form. For powder, the dispenser lid is opened, detergent added according to the recommended quantity, and the lid closed. For programs with prewash, additional detergent is placed on the lid. For tablets, one tablet is placed inside the dispenser for all programs, with an additional portion on the lid for prewash programs. The manual emphasizes using the correct amount of detergent to avoid poor washing results, waste, and pollution. It also highlights the use of compact detergents with enzymes, which are effective at lower temperatures (50°C) and are more environmentally friendly.

Before first use, users must ensure electrical and water connections comply with instructions, remove all packaging, and fill the rinse aid dispenser. The rinse aid dosage can be adjusted via a 6-position selector based on drying results.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the dishwasher's performance. Internal cleaning involves wiping door seals, detergent, and rinse aid dispensers with a damp cloth regularly. A 65°C wash program without dishes and detergent is recommended every 3 months. The filters must be cleaned regularly; the central filter (A) should be cleaned after each wash by rinsing under running water, and the large filter (B) should be cleaned weekly using a brush. To clean the large filter, the spray arm must be removed, and the column (C) turned anticlockwise by 90° before sliding out the filter. External surfaces and the control panel should be cleaned with a damp soft cloth and neutral detergents, avoiding abrasive products or solvents.

For prolonged periods of non-operation, the appliance should be unplugged, the water turned off, the rinse aid dispenser filled, and the door left ajar to prevent odors. Frost precautions include avoiding temperatures below 0°C; if unavoidable, the machine should be emptied, the door closed, and the water inlet pipe disconnected and emptied. When moving the machine, it should be unplugged, the water tap turned off, and water inlet and discharge hoses removed. The machine should not be over-tilted during transportation.

The manual also provides troubleshooting steps for common issues like the machine not starting, not filling with water, blocked filters, non-rotating spray arms, drainage problems, noise, difficulty closing the door, and poor washing/drying results. It advises contacting an authorized Service Engineer for repairs and insists on using genuine spare parts.
