Connections Overview

Overview

This document serves as a comprehensive guide for setting up, operating, and maintaining your new Blaupunkt television. It covers everything from initial unboxing and assembly to advanced features and troubleshooting.

Unboxing and Initial Setup

Upon opening the box, you will find several accessories essential for the TV's operation. These include a Quick Start Guide, a remote control with two AAA batteries, a stand installation pack, and a power cable. For those intending to connect the TV to an RF socket for Freeview reception, an RF cable is also provided. It is strongly recommended to retain the original box and packaging, as this will be crucial for safe transport in the event of warranty or service repairs.

The first step in setting up your TV involves fitting the stand. The TV panel should be placed face down on a flat, clean surface to prevent damage. The stand installation pack contains the necessary screws. Once the stand feet are correctly positioned, secure them to the TV using the provided screws. Ensure the feet are pointing away from each other as depicted in the guide.

Next, install the batteries into the remote control. Remove the battery cover from the rear, insert the AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity, and then replace the cover. The remote control is now ready for use.

For connecting your TV, plug the power cable into a power socket. If you plan to receive Freeview/Saorview channels, connect an outdoor Digital TV aerial to the RF input on the TV. This step can be skipped if you do not intend to use these services.

Wall Mounting

If you prefer to wall mount your TV, first remove the four screws from the wall mounting holes on the back of the TV. The wall mount can then be easily attached to these holes. Follow the bracket manufacturer's instructions for installing the wall mounting bracket to the television. Note that the use of spacers may not apply to all wall mounting setups.

TV Control Stick

The TV control stick, located on the back of the TV, offers an alternative way to control various functions. Its shape may vary by model.

  • While in standby mode: Press the centre of the control stick once to power on the TV.
  • While watching TV: Use the RIGHT/LEFT controls for volume adjustment, and UP/DOWN for changing channels. Pressing the centre of the control stick once displays the menu. To put the TV back into standby or power off, press and hold the centre of the control stick. Other functions are detailed in the main manual.

First Time Installation

When you first power on the TV, you will be greeted by the First Time Installation screen. This guided setup allows you to configure essential settings:

  • Language: Select your preferred on-screen display language. This will affect the language of menus and associated information.
  • Country: Choose the country where the TV will be used.
  • Environment: Select either "Home Mode" or "Store Mode."
    • Home Mode: This is a power-saving mode that reduces energy consumption by lowering the power to the LED/LCD panel.
    • Store Mode: This mode provides a brighter picture and allows for personalization of picture settings like Contrast, Brightness, and Colour. In Home Mode, the TV will automatically switch to standby after four hours if no buttons on the remote or TV are used.
  • Auto-Tuning: This initiates the tuning process based on the selected parameters.
  • Sorting by LCN: This automatically sorts channels in a logical order, placing main channels like BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV, Channel 4, and Channel 5 on channels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 respectively.
  • DVB Antenna: Select the type of TV signal you wish to tune: DVB-T (Freeview channels) or DVB-S (Satellite channels). This option only appears after confirming the "Auto Tuning" option.

Retuning Your TV

To ensure you receive the latest channels, it is recommended to retune your TV monthly, as broadcasters frequently add or move channels. To retune using the remote control, press "Menu," then press the number 8 four times (Menu > 8, 8, 8, 8). This will enter the first time installation mode, allowing you to follow the on-screen prompts to retune your set.
