9. Playback from external devices and media: USB data carrier (mass storage)
USB data carriers (USB sticks) can be connected to the car sound system
via the USB port and play back the media files contained therein,
provided that the data carriers and files are compatible with the car
sound system.
Compatible storage media types:
• USB storage media with FAT16, FAT32, exFAT file system
• file formats: MP2, MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, AAC, MP4, WAV (except for: Hi-
Res and copy-protected audio files)
The trouble-free functioning of all media files, including those listed
above, cannot be guaranteed due to the variety of software such files
may be created with.
It is not possible to connect MP3 players/mobile phones for music
playback via direct access to the memory of the MP3 player/mobile
phone.
The unit’s USB port can also be used for charging external devices, like
smartphones. Manufacturer-specific fast charging features are not
supported. It cannot be guaranteed that every device can be charged,
and this may also depend on the USB cable used.
The car radio is equipped with two USB ports:
Find the USB port behind the flip cover on the front of the car radio (see
CAR RADIO CONTROLS)
USB port on the rear of the car radio (see section INSTALLATION |
REMOVAL | CONNECTIONS)
Connecting USB storage media/media playback from USB
When using the front USB port: Open the flip cover by pulling lightly from
the bottom by the protruding bottom edge.
Carefully plug the USB storage into the USB interface without forcing or
bending the USB storage.
The unit will automatically switch to the USB playback mode. The data on
the USB storage will be loaded and the playback will begin with the first
media file recognised by the unit.
If a USB data carrier has already been connected, switch to the USB
source with the SRC button. Data will be loaded, playback will start from
the last file played.
The function of the TA button can be customised for direct source
selection, such as USB, IPOD or BT-STREAM, see section SETTINGS |
