1. When either the Extension Water Detection Probe or the
Ground Deployment Water Detection Probes come in contact
with water, the Water Sensor will activate its built-in buzzer to
sound alarm and send signal to Control Panel.
2. If water condition persists, the Water Sensor will send an
alarm signal to the control panel again after 2 minutes. The
Water Sensor will no longer transmit alarm signal unless the
water drops below detection level.
3. When the water drops below detection level, the Water Sensor
will transmit a restoration signal and returns to normal
operation.
Alarm Silence
When the alarm is activated, you can press the Learn/Test button
to enter Alarm Silence Mode. The Water Sensor will no longer
sound alarm unless the water drops below detection level and the
Water Sensor returns to normal operation, then triggered again.
If the Learn/Test button is pressed under Alarm Silence Mode, the
Water Sensor will emit a long beep to remind the user the water
has not subsided yet.

Overview

The Blaupunkt Wireless Water Sensor (WS-S1) is a crucial component for a comprehensive security and monitoring system, designed to detect the presence of water and alert users to potential leaks or floods. This device integrates seamlessly with a Control Panel, providing real-time alerts and contributing to the protection of property from water damage.

Function Description

The primary function of the WS-S1 is to detect water. It achieves this through two main detection mechanisms:

  • Extension Water Detection Probe: An external probe that can be positioned in specific areas prone to water leaks, such as under sinks, near water heaters, or in basements.
  • Ground Deployment Water Detection Probes: Integrated probes on the device's base, allowing it to detect water when placed directly on a surface.

Upon detecting water, the sensor activates its built-in buzzer, emitting an audible alarm to alert anyone in the vicinity. Simultaneously, it transmits an alarm signal to the connected Control Panel. If the water condition persists, the sensor will re-transmit an alarm signal to the Control Panel after a 2-minute interval. The sensor will cease transmitting alarm signals once the water level drops below the detection threshold. Conversely, when the water level recedes below the detection level, the WS-S1 sends a restoration signal to the Control Panel, indicating that the situation has returned to normal operation.

The device also incorporates an "Alarm Silence" mode. When an alarm is active, pressing the Learn/Test button will silence the buzzer. In this mode, the sensor will not sound an alarm again until the water level drops below the detection level and then re-triggers. If the Learn/Test button is pressed while in Alarm Silence mode and water is still detected, the sensor will emit a long beep to remind the user that the water issue has not been resolved.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Radio Frequency: 433 MHz, ensuring reliable communication with the Control Panel.
  • Environmental Condition: Operates effectively in temperatures ranging from -10°C to 40°C, with a relative humidity of up to 85% (non-condensing). This broad range makes it suitable for various indoor environments.
  • Power Source: Utilizes one CR123A lithium battery, known for its long life and stable performance.
  • Low Battery Detection: Features a low battery detection function that notifies the Control Panel when the battery voltage is low, ensuring timely replacement and continuous operation.

Usage Features

  • Learning Mode: The WS-S1 is easily integrated into an existing security system. To pair it with the Control Panel, the panel must be put into learning mode, and then the Learn/Test button on the sensor is pressed to transmit its unique learn code.
  • Installation Flexibility: The sensor offers versatile installation options:
    • Wall Mounting: The device has four protruding stands on the back with knockouts, which can be used as a template to drill holes for wall mounting. This is ideal for positioning the sensor at a specific height or in areas where ground placement is not feasible.
    • Ground Deployment: The sensor can be placed directly on the ground, standing on its four integrated stands, allowing its ground deployment probes to detect water.
  • LED Indicator: An internal LED indicator provides visual feedback on the device's status.
  • Buzzer: A built-in buzzer provides immediate audible alerts upon water detection.
  • Extension Probe Terminal: A dedicated terminal allows for the connection of the extension water detection probe, enhancing its reach and monitoring capabilities.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery Replacement: The device is designed for straightforward battery replacement. When the Control Panel indicates a low battery, users can loosen a screw at the bottom of the sensor to remove the cover, replace the old CR123A lithium battery (observing correct polarity), and then re-secure the cover. Before inserting the new battery, it is recommended to press the Learn/Test button several times to fully discharge any residual power.
  • FCC Compliance: The device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules, ensuring it operates without causing harmful interference and accepts any interference received. This indicates a commitment to regulatory standards and reliable performance. Users are advised to use shielded interface cables when connecting to computer or peripheral devices to maintain compliance.

In summary, the Blaupunkt Wireless Water Sensor (WS-S1) is a reliable, easy-to-install, and user-friendly device designed to provide early warning of water leaks and floods. Its dual detection methods, flexible installation, and integration with a Control Panel make it an essential tool for protecting properties from water damage.
