Blomberg Dryer User Manual Description
This document serves as a user manual for the Blomberg Dryer, providing essential information for safe operation, installation, usage, and maintenance. It is designed to guide users through the various functions and features of the appliance, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
Function Description
The Blomberg Dryer is designed for domestic use, specifically for drying laundry that is marked as suitable for tumble drying. It offers a range of drying programs tailored to different fabric types and desired dryness levels, from heat-resistant cottons to delicate synthetics and sportswear. The dryer utilizes a tumbling action to remove moisture from clothes, with some models incorporating a condenser unit to collect water or a flue unit to exhaust air.
Key functions include:
- Multiple Drying Programs: The dryer features programs like Cottons, Synthetics, Mix, Towels, GentleCare, Sports, Jeans, and Outdoor, each optimized for specific laundry types and drying needs. There are also specialized programs such as "Cottons Eco" for economical drying, "Cottons Iron Dry" for laundry intended for ironing, and "Freshen Up" for ventilating clothes without heat.
- Time-Based Drying: Users can select time programs ranging from 10 to 160 minutes to achieve a desired drying level at low temperatures, independent of laundry dryness. This is particularly useful when using an optional drying basket for specific items.
- Steam Function (for applicable models): Some models include a steam function for programs like "Hygienic Drying" and "Steam Refresh." This function uses distilled water or condensed water from the machine's tank to remove unpleasant odors or provide hygiene.
- Auxiliary Functions: The dryer offers several auxiliary functions to enhance the drying process:
- Dryness Level Selection: Allows adjustment of the desired dryness level, which may affect program duration.
- Wrinkle Prevention: Prevents laundry from wrinkling if not removed immediately after the program ends, by tumbling the clothes at 10-minute intervals for up to 2 hours.
- Audible Warning: Provides an audible alert when a program is completed, which can be turned off if desired.
- Low Temperature Selection: Enables drying at a lower temperature, extending the program duration but suitable for delicate items.
- End Time Delay: Allows users to delay the start of a program by up to 24 hours.
- Drum Light: Illuminates the drum for better visibility when loading or unloading laundry.
- Safety Features: The dryer incorporates several safety mechanisms, including a child lock to prevent accidental program changes and warnings for hot surfaces, scalding hazards, and electrical shock. It also emphasizes the importance of proper ventilation to prevent gas accumulation.
Usage Features
Operating the Blomberg Dryer is designed to be straightforward:
- Loading Laundry: Users should open the loading door, place laundry inside without jamming, and then firmly close the door. It is crucial to ensure no laundry is caught in the door.
- Program Selection: Programs are selected using the On/Off/Program Selection button. Once a program is chosen, the Start/Stand-by button must be pressed to initiate the drying cycle.
- Adding/Removing Laundry: Laundry can be added or removed during a program by pausing the machine, opening the door, and then restarting the program. However, frequent interruptions are discouraged as they increase program duration and energy consumption.
- Water Tank Management: For condenser models, the water tank collects condensed water during drying. This tank must be drained after each drying cycle. If the tank fills up during a program, a warning indicator will flash, and the machine will go into stand-by until the tank is emptied.
- Energy Saving Tips: The manual provides advice on optimizing energy consumption, such as spinning laundry at the highest possible speed in the washing machine, sorting laundry by type and thickness, and avoiding opening the loading door unnecessarily.
- Child Lock: The child lock feature can be activated by pressing the "Audible Warning" button for 3 seconds, disabling all buttons except the On/Off/Program Selection button. This prevents children from tampering with the dryer during operation.
- Odour Feature (for applicable models): If the dryer has an "odour feature," users should refer to the ProScent manual for specific instructions on its use.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the dryer's performance and longevity:
- Lint Filter Cleaning: The lint filter, located inside the loading door, collects lint and fibers during each drying cycle. It must be cleaned before or after every load. Periodically, the lint filter should be washed with warm water to remove any accumulated layer that might clog its pores, then dried completely before reinstallation. The lint filter housing can also be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner.
- Loading Door and Gasket Cleaning: The inner surface of the loading door and its gasket should be cleaned with a soft damp cloth to remove any accumulated fibers.
- Dampness Sensor Cleaning: The dryer's dampness sensors, which detect laundry dryness, should be cleaned approximately four times a year. This involves wiping their metal surfaces with a soft cloth dampened with vinegar, then drying them. Metal tools should not be used for this task.
- Condenser Cleaning (for condenser models): For models with a condenser unit, the condenser should be cleaned once a month or after every 30 drying cycles. This involves unlocking and pulling out the condenser, then cleaning it with pressurized water from a shower armature until the water drains. It must be reinstalled securely.
- Water Drain Hose (for direct drain connection): If the dryer is connected to a direct water drain, the hose should be checked to ensure it is not stepped on or folded, which could impede drainage.
- Evaporator Cleaning (for applicable models): If the evaporator warning icon flashes, it indicates that the evaporator front side may be clogged with fibers and needs cleaning.
- General Cleaning: The product should be unplugged during all maintenance and cleaning works. Solvents, cleaning agents, or similar flammable substances should never be used due to the risk of fire and explosion.
