Questions and Answers

Why is my BLUE SKY Solar Boost 2512i Controller charge OFF at high ambient temperature?
    • T
      Tonya SmithAug 14, 2025
The system might be temporarily shutting down because the heat sink temperature is too high. To resolve this, improve ventilation around the controller or reduce the PV power input. Ensuring sufficient ventilation can prevent over-temperature shutdowns and improve the system's reliability.

Why networked BLUE SKY Solar Boost 2512i units do not seem to coordinate action?
    • L
      laura08Aug 17, 2025
If networked units aren't coordinating or slaves aren't turning on, it could be due to an incorrect IPN network address or a network wiring problem. Ensure that one unit is set to IPN network address 0, and all others have different addresses. Also, confirm that the wiring is correctly in place. You can use the IPN-ProRemote to view Charge Unit Status screens and confirm communication between the units.

What to do if my BLUE SKY Solar Boost 2512i Controller system appears OK, but will not correctly switch between Bulk, Acceptance & Float?
    • E
      ereeseAug 21, 2025
If your system isn't switching correctly between Bulk, Acceptance, and Float, start by double-checking the Float voltage setpoint. The battery may be so discharged that the net charge current can't raise the battery voltage to the desired charge voltage setpoint, meaning PV power might be too low, or loads are too high. Also, the unit won't switch to Float until the battery voltage remains at the Acceptance voltage setpoint continuously for the Charge Time period. Alternatively, if using IPN-ProRemote, it can switch when the net battery current drops to the Float Transition Current setpoint.

How to fix a completely dead BLUE SKY Controller?
    • B
      Brian MullinsAug 26, 2025
If your BLUE SKY Controller is completely dead and the optional display is blank, the issue is likely due to no battery power. The battery might be disconnected, overly discharged, or connected with reverse polarity. Remember, the battery powers the unit, not the PV.

What to do if my BLUE SKY Controller auxiliary battery is not being charged?
    • J
      James HicksAug 28, 2025
If the auxiliary battery isn't charging, verify that dip switch #3 is OFF. The auxiliary battery will only receive charge if the primary battery is in Acceptance or Float. Also, consider that the maximum auxiliary charge current is roughly 2 amps, so the load on the auxiliary battery may need to be reduced.

    Cynthia BarberSep 1, 2025
Why is the charge status indicator blinking rapidly on my BLUE SKY Solar Boost 2512i?
    • S
      Susan StuartSep 1, 2025
A rapidly blinking charge status indicator means the system is in equalize mode. To resolve this, disable equalize via the IPN-ProRemote or by turning DIP switch #4 off.

Why load control is not working on my BLUE SKY Solar Boost 2512i?
    • K
      Keith RiveraSep 5, 2025
If load control isn't working, first confirm that dip switch #3 is ON. The load will shut off if the battery voltage drops below the OFF threshold, which defaults to 11.5V. Once shut off, the load won't come back on until the battery voltage is above the ON threshold, which defaults to 12.6V. Ensure that the ON/OFF threshold settings are correct.

Why Dusk-to-Dawn feature, lights will not turn ON or remain ON on my BLUE SKY Controller?
    • B
      Brittney MartinSep 9, 2025
If the dusk-to-dawn feature isn't working, and the lights won't turn on or stay on, start by confirming that dip switch #3 is ON and the dusk-to-dawn feature is enabled. The load will shut off if the battery voltage drops below the OFF threshold (default 11.5V), and won't turn back on until it's above the ON threshold (default 12.6V). Also, lights won't turn on if the charge control system is ON and charging. Check the time settings for the Post-Dusk or Pre-dawn timer. Pre-dawn lighting won't operate until a valid night time period of more than 4 hours is detected. If PV was removed/reconnected, the night time period may be inaccurate; remove and restore power to reboot.
