General Information
Please make sure that you read these instructions carefully in order to avoid injury when using the
soldering iron. Follow all health and safety rules and regulations. If in doubt and available please
contact a more knowledgeable source.
ALWAYS wear eye protection.
ALWAYS wear protective gloves.
ALWAYS allow the soldering iron to cool down completely before storing. The device can be
rested on the stand provided or on a non-flammable surface during breaks or once you have
finished soldering.
ALWAYS wash your hands thoroughly after you have finished working.
Make sure that the tip is correctly fitted and fastened tightly with the clamping screw before
heating the soldering iron.
Maintain tool in good and clean condition for best and safest performance.
The device may only be used indoors.
Make sure no liquids can enter the soldering iron.
Keep the work area clean, uncluttered and ensure there is adequate lighting.
Maintain correct balance and footing. Ensure the floor is not slippery and wear non-slip shoes.
Keep children and unauthorised persons away from the work area.
We recommend working within the vicinity of the mains socket so you are able to quickly pull
the plug from the socket in the event of an emergency.
Make sure you always disconnect the machine from the mains once you have finished.
Only use the soldering iron in a well ventilated room. When soldering toxic fumes can be
produced which can lead to damage of the mucous membranes and/or chronic respiratory
illness.
Only remove the soldering tip when the soldering iron has been switched off and has cooled
down completely. Slide the new soldering tip into the soldering iron as far as it will go and
fasten with the clamping screw.
DO NOT leave the soldering iron unattended until it has cooled down completely.
Safe use
DO NOT touch the soldering tip while the machine is switched on and heated. As the heat from
the tool will burn your skin.
DO NOT eat or drink whilst soldering. Solder can contain lead.
DO NOT use the soldering iron if damaged.
DO NOT open the device yourself, consult a trained electrical workshop for repairs.
DO NOT expose the device to water or moisture.
NEVER heat up the soldering iron without a soldering tip being correctly fitted.
NEVER touch the mains cable with the hot soldering iron.
The soldering iron is fitted with a BS1363/A 13 Amp 3 pin molded plug.
If the cable or plug is damaged during use, remove from use immediately.
If the fuse on the plug is damaged you are able to replace this if you are confident in doing so.
If you are in doubt please contact a qualified electrician.
The soldering iron is double insulated. Make sure the rated voltage stated on the soldering
irons rating plate matches the local mains voltage.
