Overview

This document is an installation guide for Bluesun Solar Shingled Double-Glass PV Modules, providing comprehensive information for their correct installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure stable power output and system longevity.

Function Description:

The Bluesun Solar Shingled Double-Glass PV Modules are crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules designed for outdoor use in various applications, including ground mounts, rooftops, vehicles, and boats. Their primary function is to convert sunlight into electrical energy, contributing to photovoltaic power generation systems. The double-glass frameless and double-glass belt frame modules are designed to withstand anticipated mechanical pressures from wind and snow, and they incorporate bypass diodes to mitigate power loss from partial shading.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Module Types: The manual covers various double glass modules, including 72-series and 60-series versions (e.g., BSMxxxCM5-72SD, BSMxxxPM5-60SD, BSMxxxPMB6-57SDC).
  • Maximum System Voltage: 1500V.
  • Fire Rating: Class C (according to UL790 standard).
  • Protection Class: II (evaluated according to IEC61215 and IEC61730).
  • Fuse Rating: Typically 20A for an array string, but module-specific ratings are on the product label and datasheet.
  • Ambient Temperature Range: -20°C to +45°C.
  • Operating Temperature Range: -40°C to +85°C.
  • Humidity: ≤85%RH.
  • Mechanical Load Pressure:
    • Wind pressure: 1200Pa (passed), 2400Pa (passed).
    • Snow pressure: 5400Pa (passed), 3600Pa (passed).
    • Reinforced installation solution for heavy snowfall/wind pressure: 5400Pa.
  • Module Dimensions and Weight: Provided on the product label.
  • Bar Code: Each module has a unique 18-character bar code for traceability, permanently encapsulated in the top right corner.
  • Cable Cross Section Area: Recommended 4mm² for single modules.
  • Cable Temperature Limit: -40°C to +90°C.
  • Minimum Bending Radius of Cables: No less than 43mm.
  • Grounding Wire: 12 AWG copper wire recommended.
  • Mounting Bolt Torque:
    • Fixture installation (M8 bolts): 17~23N·m.
    • Screw installation (M8 bolts): 16N·m.
  • Clamp Length: ≥50mm.
  • Contact Width (Fixture to Frame): 9~11mm.
  • Overlap Width (Module and Clamp): 11-15mm.
  • Fixture Length: At least 200mm.
  • Fixture Thickness: At least 3mm.
  • Minimum Distance Between Modules: 10mm (for frameless and hook installations).
  • Minimum Distance Between Neighboring Frames (for ventilation): Suggested 30mm.
  • Distance Between Module and Wall/Roof Surface: At least 50mm for air circulation and heat dissipation.
  • Minimum Height from Ground (for ground mounting): ≥900mm.
  • Altitude Limit: Should not exceed 2000m.
  • Salt-Mist Resistance: Bluesun PV modules have passed IEC61701 salt-mist tests.

Usage Features:

  • Installation Flexibility: Modules can be installed using fixture clamps, bracket hooks, or flexible special hooks, accommodating various mounting systems (roof, pole, ground).
  • Frameless and Framed Options: The guide details installation for both double glass frameless modules and double glass belt frame modules.
  • Orientation and Tilt Angle: Modules should be oriented to receive maximum sunlight (typically south in the northern hemisphere, north in the southern hemisphere). The tilt angle should be selected for optimal power output, considering winter performance and facilitating rain-based cleaning.
  • Series and Parallel Connections: Modules can be connected in series (total voltage is sum of individual voltages) and in parallel (total current is sum of individual currents) to achieve desired system voltage and current.
  • Bypass Diodes: Integrated bypass diodes in the junction boxes help to limit performance losses and heating in case of partial cell shading or damage.
  • Environmental Adaptability: Designed for outdoor use, modules can be installed in seaside locations (50m to 500m from the sea with corrosion protection, or ≥500m with annual preventive maintenance).
  • Ventilation: Requires adequate space behind and around the module for air circulation and heat dissipation.
  • Electrical Safety: Emphasizes using appropriate connectors, adhering to polarity, and avoiding electrical connections under load or in wet conditions.
  • System Design Considerations: Advises multiplying short-circuit current and open circuit voltage by 125% during design to account for variations under normal outdoor conditions.
  • Cable Management: Cables are designed to be sunlight resistant and waterproof, with recommendations for protection against mechanical damage and environmental corrosion.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Inspection: Users are responsible for regular inspection and maintenance of modules during the warranty period. Any damage must be reported to the supplier within one week.
  • Visual Inspection: Check for appearance defects such as broken glass, burning vestiges on the back-sheet, corrosion along cell bus-bars, damaged encapsulation materials, large areas of bubbles, and ensure aluminum frame holes are normal and screws are tight.
  • Cleaning:
    • Normal rainfall can keep the glass surface clean.
    • For accumulated dirt, use water and a soft sponge or cloth.
    • A mild, non-abrasive cleaning agent can be used for stubborn dirt.
    • Avoid pressing hard on the module during cleaning to prevent glass deformation or cell damage.
    • Do not clean with cold water when the module temperature is highest to avoid thermal shocks.
    • When cleaning the back of the module, avoid piercing the back-sheet.
    • Horizontal installations may require more frequent cleaning.
  • Snow Removal: Remove snow promptly to prevent long-term accumulation and freezing damage.
  • Electrical Connections Check:
    • Regularly inspect mechanical and electrical connections.
    • Ensure connectors are clean and reliably connected.
    • Check for tight and corrosion-free electrical connections at least once a year.
  • Repair and Professional Support:
    • Completely cover the module with opaque material during repairs to prevent electric shock.
    • Repairs should be handled by professionals.
    • For problems not covered in the manual or for professional support, contact the local dealer.
  • Grounding System Maintenance: Ensure the earthing device is reliable and operated according to the manufacturer's requirements.
