Charging process
Principle
The charging process can be adapted to con-
straints such as the cost of electricity, available
current sources, or a low ambient temperature.
The vehicle controls the charging process in
such a way that the charging process is com-
pleted if possible at the departure time. A de-
parture time must be set for this purpose.
General information
High or low outside temperatures can cause
longer charging times.
When charging the vehicle, a charge target can
be set, thereby shortening the charging dura-
tion.
If the Mode 2 charging cable is exposed to
high temperatures and direct sunlight, this may
interrupt the charging process. Charging will
resume automatically.
A charging procedure is canceled or not
started due to the installation of a Remote
Software Upgrade. The charging procedure
may not continue automatically after the suc-
cessful installation.
Safety information
NOTICE
The charging socket flap and charging socket
outlet cover may be damaged by strain.
There is a risk of damage to property. Do
not strain the charging socket flap and charg-
ing socket outlet cover, e.g., by dropping the
charging cable.
Plug & Charge
Principle
With Plug & Charge, personal user data can be
saved to the vehicle. The charging process at
public charging stations is simplified.
General information
At public charging stations, a user account with
the charging station operator may be required.
To enable a charging station, you must enter
your user data, e.g., using the charging station
screen or presenting a charging card. Charging
is billed through the saved user account.
Saving user data to your vehicle
With supported operators, user data can be
saved to your vehicle. You can begin charg-
ing process immediately after connecting the
charging cable.

Battery thermal management
Principle
An optimal high-voltage battery temperature
increases the charging capacity during charg-
ing and shortens the charging time.
General information
Battery thermal management prepares the
high-voltage battery for upcoming charging at
a DC charging station. The temperature of the
high-voltage battery is adjusted for this.
Battery thermal management can reduce
range and increase energy consumption.
