Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the BodyMed® Digital Moist Heating Pad, covering models ZZHP147, ZZHP1414, ZZHP1427, ZZHP1427BLK, and ZZHP832U. It provides comprehensive information on the device's function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

Function Description:

The BodyMed® Digital Moist Heating Pad is designed for physical therapy, utilizing controlled moist heat for temporary pain relief. It is particularly useful for conditions such as muscle strains and spasms, joint pain, and inflammation. The device incorporates high-grade intensive ceramics and a high-density electric carbon wire for quick temperature increase. The application of moist heat is a commonly prescribed therapy in medical practice. The heating pad is intended to provide a slightly damp sensation from condensed water vapor during treatment, but should not be dripping wet. It is crucial not to add water to any part of the heating pad. If the pad feels dry, suggestions include washing the outer cover, avoiding storage in hot/dry locations, allowing time between uses for moisture regeneration, or hanging the cover near a shower or laundry area.

Important Technical Specifications:

The heating pad operates on moisture heating. The cover is made of 60% cotton and 40% polyester, and is washable. The display is a numerical LCD (liquid crystal display). Buttons are made of rubber in double colors. It features a high-resolution digital thermal sensor and pulse trigger-control solid switching. The circuit uses a digital processor and thermal switching for protection. It operates continuously. The heating temperature can be selected from 86-166° F, with an auto shut-off timer ranging from 1 to 60 minutes (adjustable in 1-minute increments).

Power consumption varies by model:

  • ZZHP1427: 2.2A/290W
  • ZZHP1427BLK: 2.2A/290W
  • ZZHP1414: 1.1A/145W
  • ZZHP147: 0.6A/80W
  • ZZHP832U: 2A/260W All models operate on AC 90-125V ~ 40-60Hz.

Pad sizes (W x L) for different models are:

  • ZZHP1427: 14" x 27"
  • ZZHP1427BLK: 14" x 27"
  • ZZHP1414: 14" x 14"
  • ZZHP147: 14" x 7"
  • ZZHP832U: 8" x 32"

Operating conditions: Temperature 68-104° F, Humidity 30-75% RH. Storage conditions: Temperature 50-122° F, Humidity 10-90% RH. Transportation conditions: Temperature 14-158° F, Humidity 10-90% RH. The device is classified as Class II Equipment, Type BF Applied Part. It is compliant with medical regulations including EMC (IEC60601-1-2), Electrical Safety (IEC60601-1), and MDD (93/42/EEC).

Usage Features:

The device features an LCD display that shows setup temperature and time, real-time temperature and time, and includes a locking function to prevent accidental adjustments. A warning signal illuminates when the product is active. To use, the heating unit must be slid into its special cotton outer cover; it should never be used without the fleece cover. No additional layers of insulation should be added. The heating unit must be kept flat inside the cover to avoid heat intensification, which could cause damage, burns, or fire. After plugging into a 110V outlet, a "beep" indicates normal operation. The unit is switched on by pressing the power button (Φ). The LCD panel displays full images for 3 seconds, then defaults to a preset timer of 15 minutes and a temperature of 50° C (122° F). Heating times are approximate: 4 minutes to reach 122° F and 10 minutes to reach 166° F. Temperature can be set between 86° F and 166° F using the increase (Δ) and decrease (∇) buttons. Pressing and holding these buttons adjusts the temperature by 41° F increments. The "heating" icon (M) indicates heating or cooling. The timer can be set from 0-60 minutes using the increase (Δ) and decrease (∇) buttons. Pressing and holding these buttons adjusts the time by 5-minute increments. The power automatically shuts off when the set time expires. A lock function is available by pressing the lock button for two seconds, which locks the temperature and timer buttons to prevent unintended adjustments. Unlocking is done by pressing the lock button again for two seconds. The device automatically memorizes the last settings when shut off; unplugging the unit resets it to initial settings. For normal treatment, 15 minutes per cycle is sufficient, not exceeding a total duration of 30 minutes, twice a day. Direct contact with bare skin is recommended for maximum benefit. Users should not lie or sit on the heating pad.
