"METER

ON/OFF"

switch

In

cases

where

tests

are

being

made

at

high

speed

in

con-

junction

with

a

digital

vo1tmeter~

voltage

com~arator

or

other

external

monitor~

the

meter

should

be

switched

off

by

means

of

the

rear

panel

"METER-OFF"

switch

to

avoid

possible

interaction

caused

bya

small

counter-emf

from

the

moving

coil

of

the

meter.

Also,

this

avoids

damage

and

excessive

wear

of

the

movement.

Whether

the

meter

is

switched

on

or

off

has

no

bearing

on

the

accuracy

of

the

quiescent

value

of

the

dc

output.

NOTE:

In

the

Model

7lAR,

the

"METER-OFF"

switch

is

located

on

the

front

panel,

and

the

rear

panel

meter

switch

is

disabled.
