Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the appliance's longevity and performance:

  • Machine Housing/Control Panel: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cloths, scourers, or cleaning agents containing solvents. Remove detergent residue immediately. Do not use a water jet.
  • Drum: Wipe the rubber seal dry and leave the door open to allow the drum to dry. Use chlorine-free cleaning agents; avoid steel wool.
  • Regular Cleaning: Run the Cottons 90°C programme regularly to keep the washing machine clean.
  • Descaling: Descaling is generally not necessary if detergent is measured correctly. If required, follow descaling agent manufacturer's instructions.
  • Detergent Drawer and Housing: Clean regularly to remove detergent or fabric softener residue. The drawer can be fully removed for cleaning, and the insert can be detached.
  • Detergent Solution Pump: Instructions for clearing blockages, which involves draining hot detergent solution (after it cools down), removing the service flap, unscrewing the pump cover, cleaning the interior and impeller, and refitting the cover.
  • Drain Hose at the Siphon: Instructions for clearing blockages, including switching off the appliance, loosening the hose clamp, removing and cleaning the drain hose and siphon connecting piece, then reattaching.
  • Filter in the Water Supply: Instructions for cleaning the filter, which involves turning off the tap, reducing water pressure, running a short programme, switching off the appliance, disconnecting the hose, and cleaning the filter with a small brush. For AquaSecure models, the filter on the rear of the appliance also needs cleaning.
  • Emergency Release: In case of a power cut, the washing machine door can be opened by pulling the emergency release downwards after draining the detergent solution and ensuring the laundry has cooled.
