I - DESCRIPTION
La gamme AS-4000 propose 2 modèles AS-4156 et AS-4256
d’amplificateur/mélangeur à 6 entrées en versions 150W et
250W.
Chaque modèle dispose d’une alimentation à découpage,
d’une section de pré-amplification à 6 entrées, d’un étage
d’amplification de puissance classe D.

Le tableau suivant récapitule les possibilités de la
préamplification 6 entrées.

Amplification de puissance
Les 2 modèles de la gamme sont équipés de modules
d’amplification de puissance à sortie directe 100V. Un
système de ventilation permanent garantit une utilisation
optimale du module et donc une fiabilité accrue.
I - DESCRIPTION
The AS-4000 range proposes 2 models of 6 inputs mixer-
amplifier in 150W and 250W versions.
Each model is built with a switching power supply, a 6-
inputs mixer stage, a class-D power amplifier.
Preamplification
Following table describes all possibilities for the 6 inputs
preamplifier stage :

Power amplifier
The model of the range are built on direct 100V amplifier. A
forced-air cooling system insures good internal thermal
conditions so reliability is improved.

Function Description:

The primary function of the AS-4156/AS-4256 is to mix and amplify audio signals from up to six different sources, delivering them to a 100V direct output. The preamplifier stage offers extensive flexibility for various input types, including microphones and line-level sources, with options for remote control and automatic signal detection. The class-D power amplifier is equipped with a permanent forced-air cooling system to maintain optimal internal thermal conditions, enhancing reliability and longevity.

Usage Features:

  • Front Panel Controls:
    • Master Volume: Adjusts overall output level.
    • Input Volume (1-5): Individual volume control for inputs 1 to 5.
    • Bass/Treble (1-5): Tone adjustments for inputs 1 to 5.
    • LED Indicators:
      • On (Green): Indicates power is on.
      • Protec (Red): Indicates amplifier protection mode.
      • Clip (Yellow): Indicates signal clipping.
      • Signal (Blue): Indicates signal modulation on inputs and output.
  • Rear Panel Controls:
    • Chime Level Adjustment: Sets the volume of the chime.
    • Settings Dip Switches:
      • Priority Mode (SW1-SW2): Configures input priority (strict, first-calling, or mixed). Requires product restart after modification.
  • OFF-OFF: Priority 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 5 > 6.
  • OFF-ON: All inputs 1-6 mixed.
  • ON-OFF: Priority 1 > 2 > 3 > (4 & 5 & 6 mixed).
  • ON-ON: First calling priority 1=2=3 > (4 & 5 & 6 mixed).
    • Chime Selection (SW3-SW4): Enables or disables chime function for remote broadcasting inputs (1, 2, 3).
    • Detection Level (SW5): Sets signal detection threshold (Strong/Weak). Recommended to adapt to microphone sensitivity.
    • Release Time (SW6-SW7): Configures the time for automatic signal detection to release (3s or 8s).
*   **Mic/Line Selection (Inputs 2, 3, 4, 5):** Dip switches to select between -10dBu (Line) and -53dBu/-57dBu (Mic) input levels.
*   **70V/100V Output Level Selection:** Switch to select between 70V and 100V output.
*   **Mute Input:** Dry contact input for external remote muting. When activated, the red "Protec" LED lights up.
*   **Mains Socket + ON/OFF Switch:** Power connection and main power switch.
  • Connectivity:

    • RJ45 Inputs: Used for remote control consoles (e.g., GX3016, GXT4000) and standard audio signals.
    • 3-point Terminal Block Inputs: For balanced audio connections.
    • Combo XLR/Jack Inputs: Supports both XLR and 6.35mm jack connectors for microphones and line sources.
    • RCA Stereo Inputs: For external music sources, converted to mono.
    • 3.5mm Jack Stereo Input: Front-panel input for external devices, converted to mono.
    • XLR Output: Balanced 0dBu output.
    • RJ45 Output: 0dBu output.
    • 100V/70V Output Terminal Block: For connecting loudspeakers.
  • DIN Connector Microphones: For GM1051, GM1052 microphones on RJ45 inputs 2 and 3, the GZ153 cable (supplied) must be used. It is crucial not to power these consoles locally if connected via RJ45, or to disconnect pin 6 (+17V/100mA) if they are locally powered.

  • XLR/Jack Combo Connection: Standard wiring for XLR is 2=Hot, 3=Cold, 1=Ground. For 6.35mm stereo jack, T=Hot, R=Cold, S=Ground. For mono 6.35mm jack, T=Hot, S=Ground (output signal attenuated by 6dB for asymmetrical connection).

  • RCA Connection: Stereo signals from external equipment are converted to mono.

Maintenance Features:

  • Ventilation: Permanent forced-air cooling system ensures optimal thermal conditions and improved reliability. Ventilation openings must not be obstructed.
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Do not expose the device to water or splashes.
    • Connect to a grounded mains socket.
    • Do not remove security tags or information.
    • Use only for indicated applications.
    • Not recommended for use above 2000 meters altitude.
    • Maintain a minimum distance around the device for sufficient aeration.
    • Do not expose to rain or moisture (unless designed for outdoor use, in which case follow specific instructions).
    • If the device malfunctions, or if water/objects enter, immediately power off and unplug. Repairs must be performed by qualified personnel.
    • Always power off before touching internal conductive parts.
    • Avoid rapidly switching the device on/off multiple times to prevent reducing component longevity.
    • Replace fuses only with the same type and caliber.
    • Ensure the three-spindle power plug (with ground) is correctly connected to a compatible electrical outlet. Consult an electrician if the outlet is obsolete.
  • Hot Surfaces: Warning symbols indicate hot surfaces that should not be touched during operation to avoid burns.
  • Product Disposal: At the end of its life, the product must be disposed of according to the WEEE directive in France (DOM-TOM included). For other regions, local regulations apply. Contact Bouyer for disposal arrangements.

Factory Settings:

  • Dip Switch Settings (rear panel):
    • SW2 ON: Priority mode = all inputs mixed.
    • SW5 ON: Detection level LOW.
    • SW7 ON: Release time 3s for inputs 4, 5, and 6.
  • Input 6 Level Adjustment (rear): Set to minimum.
