Overview

This document describes the Oral-B electric toothbrush, a personal care device designed for effective oral hygiene. The toothbrush is manufactured by Braun GmbH and distributed by P&G Japan.

Function Description

The Oral-B electric toothbrush is designed to provide a thorough and safe brushing experience. It utilizes oscillating-rotating brush heads to clean teeth and gums. The device offers different brushing modes to cater to various oral care needs.

  • Brushing Modes:
    • Daily Clean: Standard mode for everyday mouth cleaning.
    • Sensitive: Gentle, yet thorough cleaning for sensitive areas.
    • Soft Rotation/Soft Clean: For when teeth or gums feel sensitive, providing a gentle yet effective clean.
  • Timer Functionality:
    • 2-Minute Timer: A short stuttering sound signals the end of the professionally recommended 2-minute brushing time.
    • Professional Timer: Short stuttering sounds at 30-second intervals prompt users to move to a different quadrant of the mouth, ensuring all four quadrants are brushed equally. A longer stuttering sound indicates the completion of the recommended 2-minute brushing time.
  • Brush Head Types: Oral-B offers a variety of brush heads, each designed for specific cleaning needs:
    • Oral-B Brush Head for Kids (EB10S): Features soft bristles for gentle brushing of milk teeth, specially designed for children's smaller mouths.
    • Oral-B Sensitive Clean Brush Head (EB60): Combines regular bristles for tooth surfaces and ultrathin bristles for gentle gumline cleaning.
    • Oral-B CrossAction Brush Head (EB50): An advanced brush head with angled bristles for precise cleaning, lifting and powering away plaque.
    • Oral-B Basic Brush Head (EB20): Gently yet thoroughly cleans teeth and protects gums, enveloping each tooth.
    • Oral-B FlossAction Brush Head (EB25): Effectively cleans teeth, along the gumline, and in hard-to-reach areas like behind teeth.
    • Oral-B 3D White Brush Head (EB18): Features a dentist-inspired polishing cup to remove surface stains from coffee, tea, and tobacco for effective brightening. Not recommended for children under 12.

Usage Features

  • Effective Brushing Technique: Wet the brush head, apply toothpaste, and place the brush head in the mouth before switching on to prevent splashing. Guide the brush head slowly from tooth to tooth, spending a few seconds on each tooth surface. Brush the outsides, then insides, and finally the chewing surfaces of all four mouth quadrants equally. Avoid pressing too hard; let the brush do the work.
  • Initial Bleeding: Slight gum bleeding may occur during the first few days of use. This typically stops within a few days. If bleeding persists for more than two weeks, consult a dental professional.
  • Product Registration: Users are encouraged to register their product immediately to receive an additional 1-year extended warranty.
  • Compatibility: Only use Oral-B genuine brush heads and chargers. Using non-Oral-B brush heads may void the warranty and compromise performance.
  • Sticker Application: When applying stickers to the handle, ensure the white dot (valve) at the bottom of the handle is not covered.

Maintenance Features

  • Brush Head Replacement: Brush heads should be replaced every 3 months, or sooner if the bristles become worn or splayed. Many Oral-B brush heads feature INDICATOR® bristles that fade in color over approximately 3 months of thorough brushing, signaling the need for replacement.
  • Cleaning After Use: After each use, rinse the brush head under running water with the handle switched on for several seconds. Then, switch off the handle, remove the brush head, and rinse both parts separately under running water. Wipe dry before reassembling.
  • Charger Cleaning: Unplug the charger before cleaning. The charging unit, charging stand, and travel case should be cleaned with a damp cloth only. Do not immerse them in water or place them in a dishwasher.
  • Battery Maintenance: To maintain maximum battery capacity, fully discharge the handle with regular use and then fully recharge it every 6 months. Overcharging is not possible if the handle is stored on the plugged-in charging unit.
  • Storage: The handle can be stored on the plugged-in charging unit for daily use. Store clean and dry toothbrush/brush heads in the travel case. The brush head holder is dishwasher-safe.
  • Disposal: At the end of its useful life, the product contains rechargeable batteries that must be removed and disposed of according to local environmental regulations. Disassembly instructions are provided for safe battery removal. The removed battery should be insulated and taken to a recycling point. Opening the handle for any other reason will void the guarantee.

  • General Safety: Do not modify or repair the product. Do not insert objects into any openings. Do not use if the product or cord is damaged.
  • Children: Not recommended for children under 3. Children and persons with reduced capabilities should use the device under supervision. Do not let children play with the appliance.
