The Breville PressXpress 3100W Ceramic Steam Iron is a household appliance designed for efficient and safe garment care. Its primary function is to remove creases from fabrics through dry ironing, steam ironing, and burst of steam functions, as well as vertical steam ironing.
Function Description:
The iron operates by heating a ceramic soleplate to a user-selected temperature, which can then be used to press fabrics. For enhanced crease removal, the iron features a steam function, where water from the integrated tank is converted into steam and released through holes in the soleplate. The steam control (2) allows adjustment of the steam output, from off (0) to a high steam setting. A "shot of steam" button (4) provides an extra burst of steam for stubborn creases, while a "spray" button (3) allows for a fine mist of water to be applied to fabrics, useful for heavy fabrics or delicate items that cannot be steam ironed.
Vertical steam ironing is also possible, allowing users to remove creases from hanging garments without direct contact. The iron is equipped with an anti-drip feature that automatically cuts off water supply when the temperature is too low to create steam, preventing water drips from the soleplate. A permanent anti-scale filter is integrated to reduce limescale build-up, prolonging the iron's lifespan, especially in areas with hard water.
For safety and convenience, the iron includes a "Safe-Store™" heat indicator strip (10) that changes color to indicate when the soleplate has cooled sufficiently for safe storage. An auto shut-off function is also present, turning off the iron if it remains unused for 15 minutes on its heel or 30 seconds on its soleplate.
Important Technical Specifications:
- Power: 3100W, indicating rapid heat-up and strong steam performance.

- Safety: Auto shut-off, anti-drip feature, anti-scale filter.
- Power Supply: Mains operated, requires a 13 amp BS1363 plug with a 13 amp fuse.
Usage Features:
- Filling the Iron: The water tank is filled with ordinary tap water through the inlet cover (1), ensuring not to exceed the MAX level (12).
- Dry Ironing: The steam control (2) is set to off (0), and the temperature control (6) is adjusted to the desired setting. The temperature indicator light (5) signals when the iron is ready.
- Steam Ironing: After filling the water tank, the temperature control (6) is set to the appropriate steam setting (indicated by symbols on the dial). The steam control (2) is then adjusted to select the desired steam output.
- Burst of Steam: Activated by pressing the shot of steam button (4) for stubborn creases, requiring the temperature control to be within specific steam settings.
- Vertical Steam Ironing: The iron is held 15cm from the fabric, and the shot of steam button (4) is pressed as needed.
- Spraying: The spray button (3) is pressed to release a mist of water, useful for dampening fabrics.
- Pre-use Cleaning: Before first use, the soleplate should be wiped with methylated spirit and a damp cloth. The iron should also be run with water and steam on an old piece of cloth to flush out manufacturing residues.
- Storage: The iron must be allowed to cool completely before storage. The Safe-Store™ heat indicator strip (10) confirms when it's safe. The power cord can be wrapped around the heel of the iron.
Maintenance Features:
- Exterior Cleaning: The exterior of the iron should be wiped with a soft damp cloth after it has cooled. Harsh abrasives, chemical cleaners, or solvents should not be used.
- Soleplate Cleaning: For polyester burnt onto the soleplate, iron a damp cotton cloth while the iron is still hot. Otherwise, wipe with a soft damp cloth.
- Self-Cleaning: The self-clean function (activated by button 11) removes scale and impurities. It should be used every two weeks, or more frequently in hard water areas. The process involves filling the iron, heating it to MAX temperature, unplugging, holding it over a sink, and pressing the self-clean button to eject hot water and steam. After this, the iron is plugged back in and used on an old cloth to clear any remaining water.
- Steam Hole Cleaning: Any build-up in or around the steam holes can be removed using a cotton wool tip moistened with methylated spirits, followed by wiping with a damp cloth and drying the soleplate.
