Why won't my Briggs & Stratton Brush Cutter engine start?
- MMark HurstAug 12, 2025
If your Briggs & Stratton Brush Cutter engine won't start, several factors could be at play. The spark plug might be wet or fouled, in which case you should clean or replace it. A cracked insulator also necessitates spark plug replacement. Ensure the STOP SWITCH is in the ON position. Check that the spark plug gap matches the specification. If the engine is flooded, crank it with the choke open to clear excess fuel. Old or incorrect fuel can also prevent starting, so drain and replace it with the correct fuel/oil mixture. Finally, make sure there's fuel in the tank and refuel if needed.
