If your Briggs & Stratton Portable Generator's engine won't start, starts and runs rough, or shuts down, here's what you can check: 1. Ensure the starting dial is in the run position. 2. Check the oil level; the low oil indicator light might be on. Fill the crankcase to the proper level or place the generator on a level surface. 3. Inspect the air cleaner and clean or replace it if it's dirty. 4. Make sure the fuel tank isn't empty and fill it if needed. 5. Verify the spark plug wire is connected to the spark plug. 6. If the engine is flooded with fuel, wait 5 minutes before attempting to re-crank it.
