This document provides instructions on how to flush a BRITA filter after a period of non-use, covering two main types of BRITA filters: PURITY and PURITY C.
BRITA PURITY Filters
Function Description:
BRITA PURITY filters are designed to filter water, ensuring its quality for various applications. Flushing the filter after a period of non-use is crucial to prepare it for safe operation and prevent potential issues like flooding.
Usage Features:
- Flushing Hose: The filter is equipped with a grey flushing hose, approximately 30 cm long, located on the top of the filter. This hose is used to direct flushed water into a bucket.
- Flush Control Tap: A black plastic (or sometimes silver metal) tap, built into the top of the filter, controls the water flow during flushing.
- Flushing Procedure:
- Preparation: Place a bucket next to the BRITA PURITY filter, ensuring enough space for it to sit flat on the floor. If the filter is in a cupboard, it may need to be moved to allow the grey hose to reach the bucket safely. Care should be taken not to damage or kink the water hoses during movement.
- Hose Placement: Ensure the grey hose is securely placed inside or over the bucket before starting the flushing procedure. Hold onto the flush hose to prevent it from flipping out of the bucket due to water pressure.
- Initiating Flush: Confirm that the mains water supply to the BRITA filter is turned on. Turn the black tap a quarter turn towards the grey hose (it may be stiff). Water should begin flowing through the grey flush hose into the bucket. If no water flows, check and turn on the mains water tap to the filter.
- Monitoring: The flushing process requires filling several buckets and takes time. It is critical not to leave the filter unattended while flushing to prevent potential flooding.
- Completion: Once the required amount of water has been flushed, turn off the flush tap and secure the grey flush hose around the top of the filter. The filter is then ready for use.
Maintenance Features:
- Flushing after Non-Use: This procedure is specifically for flushing the filter after it has not been used for a period, ensuring optimal performance and hygiene.
Important Technical Specifications (Flushing Volumes):
- PURITY 1200: Requires flushing 120 liters of water.
- PURITY 600: Requires flushing 60 liters of water.
BRITA PURITY C Filters
Function Description:
BRITA PURITY C filters also provide filtered water and require flushing after periods of non-use to maintain water quality and operational safety.
Usage Features:
- Flushing Hose: Similar to PURITY filters, PURITY C filters have a grey flushing hose, approximately 10 cm long, located on the top of the filter.
- Flush Control Mechanism: The water flushing is controlled by either a small round grey button or a small grey slider, integrated into the top of the filter.
- Sliding Flush Mechanism: Push the slider in the direction of the arrow to start flushing. Push it back in the other direction to stop.
- Push Button Flush Mechanism: Press and hold the button down to flush. Releasing the button stops the flushing.
- Flushing Procedure:
- Preparation: Place a bucket next to the BRITA PURITY C filter, ensuring enough space for it to sit flat on the floor. If the filter is in a cupboard, it may need to be moved to allow the grey hose to reach the bucket safely. Avoid damaging or kinking the water hoses.
- Hose Placement: The grey hose must be inside the bucket before starting the flushing procedure. Hold onto the flush hose to prevent it from flipping out due to water pressure.
- Initiating Flush: Ensure the mains water supply to the BRITA filter is turned on. Water should start flowing through the grey flush hose into the bucket. If no water flows, check and turn on the mains water tap to the filter.
- Handle Position (if applicable): If water still doesn't flush, check that the blue handles on either side of the PURITY C head are correctly positioned. Once in the correct position, water should flow through the grey flush hose when the flush button is pressed or the slider is opened.
- Monitoring: The flushing process involves filling multiple buckets and takes time. Do not leave the filter unattended while flushing to prevent flooding.
- Completion: After flushing the required amount of water, turn off the flush tap. The filter is then ready for use.
Maintenance Features:
- Flushing after Non-Use: This procedure is essential for preparing the filter for use after a period of inactivity, ensuring proper function and hygiene.
